Could you please give the URL of the page where the text in your quote is from. It most certainly is not from the KB article Brds7t7 linked to, and has nothing to do with that update.

That quote comes from the Windows 10 Preview agreement (Terms of Service). I remembered reading that after WHS noted the long startup time in W10 and wondered if "reporting" was the cause.

Yes, that is part of the Windows technical preview / Windows Insider Preview Privacy Statement, and my point remains: what on earth has it to do with the KB in question?

BTW, all tinfoil hat conspiracy geeks, I repeat this at least hundredth time counting all our forums: If you are afraid that Microsoft wants your phone number and email address in order to cause your some harm, use a local account. Using it in Windows 10, as well as in Windows 8, then blocking the cookies and never registering to any Microsoft services keeps you out of their reach. Or do you seriously think that even if you have never given any email and / or phone number to your Windows PC, they spy you using your webcam and mic trying to find out the number and email?

The KB being discussed, although short on detail, has similarities in that it is meant to acquire use information from a Personal Computer.

Not wanting to start a fight here, I just wonder which government does for instance NSA represent?

The rights granted to US citizens by the US constitution are about the same rights every civilized country grants to their citizens. In my native Finland there's not a single security, police or other organization which is allowed to listen, watch or follow me without a detailed submission to a court, which is according to the constitution only allowed to grant this permission for a specific, short period and only if the crime I am suspected of carries a multiple year sentence. And same here in Germany where I live, I am protected as any German because I am a European Union citizen.

Really, US of A is not the only country where the constitution protects it's citizens, and in many countries the protection of non-citizen residents is done far better.

That all being said, what has a constitution to do with Windows Privacy Statement? Microsoft has never forced a single user, American or of any other nationality to use Windows. If you use it, you have the possibility to check the EULA and the Privacy Statement. If one or both of them is a problem to you and you will not accept it, do not use Windows and that's it.

Who knows? MS can't fix the problems in W7 with all the error logs reported. I just ran across a new one (for me) when you have a USB memory device installed and load a CD/DVD. Windows throws a page error (Event 51). It's been a known error to MS for years and it still occurs. All they can say is ignore it.

I could care less if someone wants to voluntarily submit use data from their computer but I want to know what, when, where and for how long before I give up my right to privacy.

I'm done flag waving.

The whole purpose of a technical preview is to collect live data of the previewed software, in order to test it's operation on as wide a hardware set as is possible. If people do not wish to have this data collected they simply need to not sign up and agree to download the preview software.

Users who do not wish to have their information on the internet servers, can simply decide to not connect to the internet there are always choices available

Businesses doesn't have to go by are U.S. Constitution Technically, the Constituion does not apply to business, so when you walk in a businesses the Constitution does not apply. There are few exception to that, if the business or a non-profit operates like a government then it has to follow the Constitution. Having a president or a board, the business or non-profit has to follow the U.S. Constitution. However, U.S. businesses and U.S. Non-profit still have to follow U.S. Federal, State laws & regulations.

Wrong.

Groze mentions that the KB "is the same keylogger than the one used in Windows 10", then posting the quote from Windows 10 Privacy Statement as if it were from the terms of this Windows 7 KB. Of course you get juicy and scandalous posts if you take this sentence from that article and that quote from another article and so on, but it's another question if it helps the users in any way.

In my opinion his words give a quite clear impression of this, leaving nothing to misinterpret, and that's why I asked a clarification:

Are you saying the Diagnostics Tracking Service in windows 7 is different than the one in windows 10? I was trying to find more information on what Diagnostics Tracking Service is. This website is talking about windows 10 preview so-called key logger. Since the update name is the same as the so called key logger-why wouldn't people assume that?

They do the same, on purpose mix facts from various places and articles. This is from Microsoft's KB article regarding that update:

This tracking service collects data about functional issues in Windows

And then from you and PC Whisperer the name of the KB, and a quote from Windows 10 Privacy Statement which is totally misleading and has nothing to do with this KB.

Sorry, I think I will continue trusting MS in this. If an update wants to collect data functional issues in my Windows, they are welcome to do that.

If you followed any of the MS discussions on the W7 KB you'll find that it is all speculation and MS-speak and no one has provided detail on what is actually occurring in the Tracking Service, Kari included. Until provided with proof, the logical assumption is that the service is collecting like data.

Text entry collection is "key-logging" no matter how you try to defend it. If I'm interested in todays news and type ISIS, I surely don't want my PC to be linked to some radical group. We become guilty by association.

Personally, I don't care about conspiracy theories or anything like that. But after last month's "Telemetry" update I had, which caused me hard drive thrashing for days (and magically stopped as soon as I removed the update), I refuse to install anything from MS now which has the words "Telemetry", "Diagnostics" or "Tracking" in the description.

As I've said before, I won't install an update which affects the performance of my pc. It's just another unnecessary data collecting, performance affecting update that I don't want on my pc.

MS has pushed out 3 or 4 of these in the last couple months. If it's to aid in the update to Windows 10, then I'll install them when I'm ready to install W10, otherwise they're unnecessary to my system. It's been running great since 2009 when W7 was released and Diagnostics and Tracking updates won't make it any better for me.

So... Another update skipped!
