It is such an exciting time. This month we will release Windows 7 to manufacturing, and we write that next chapter, we go after that opportunity.
There's just one problem. The official transcript of the speech, clearly written off the script ahead of time (or just a simple mistake, I guess; either way, it's wrong), reads as follows:
It is such an exciting time. This morning we will release Windows 7 to manufacturing, and we write that next chapter, we go after that opportunity.
Can it be that they planned to RTM it "that" morning, but for some reason they have/want to hold on it a bit longer. I believe these speeches (except for Ballmer's) are scripted and well rehearsed, at least the very first parts, and the text is loaded upfront, or if someone really type it live (high speed typing) "this morning" and "this month" is quite easy to replace wit eachother what ever sceenarion it is... or maybe they simply read SevenForums.com and have a big :roflmao:at us RTM suckers here!

I bet they just wanted to mess with us. Or they found a showstopper in 7600 16384, and that is why they used 7201 for the demo and delayed RTM.

I am surprised they used such an old build for the presentation...unless they want to keep a differnece between prseentation and RTM (to make people think they continue to improve:p)

More likely, when they prepared this presentation, it was the best build they have. Using a newer build may seem fine in theory, but it's quite risky since you won't have the level of testing for you presentation in that build. In theory it should be fine, the newer build is supposed to be better, but you never know. When you are doing a presentation which is going to be seen by thousands live, many more over the internet, and which if it goes wrong could be seen by millions for years to come, you don't take risks like that. Furthermore, if something does go wrong, you can easily say it's an old build and things have improved significantly since then. If something goes wrong with an almost RTM...

That was cool. A lot of "WOW" power in that demo. Just like CSI! :D
