Curious about why it could work under IMAPI but not under POP I went and check the settings in internet mail and found out that the POP options were disabled.
I was not allowed to use POP. Issue is that I always used POP since I remember and today it was changed NOT by me.
I now reset the option to use POP and everything went back to normal.
WLM2012 got bck to work. Phew
