missing cd/dvd rom driver after install?

I just did a clean/custom install of windows 7 32bit on an out of the box dell optiplex 760. Everything seems fine except i get a "Drive 1 not found: serial ata, sata-1. Failed to detect one or more drives during POST" message during startup. Any ideas as to where i went wrong or what the problem might be?

Hi Bootz, welcome to the forums

I believe the system is booting, from what you said, so it shoudl be referring to the DVD drive

Does your BIOS see it? What are the BIOS settings for SATA?

BTW, nice job filling in complete system specs, but I think your question refers to another system, is that right?

Your correct, windows is booting but the dvd drive does not work. The sata operation setting in the bios is set to AHCI and the Drive settings for sata-1 are..

Controller details:
controller = serial ATA
port = SATA-1
Drive details:
drive ID = unknown

thats what it shows in the bios anyway.

Sorry for any confusion but yes this is on a different system then the one in my specs.

Try to use the other option rather than AHCI (probably SATA or IDE).
You might have to update your drive's firmware. Let's try the more simple solutions first.
