Solved Monitor vs TV For Gaming?

Hello everyone,

I game a lot on computer and XBox One. I am looking to buy a new monitor for my gaming purposes, specifically a BenQ RL2455HM. I've been talking to a friend of mine about it, and he keeps insisting that gaming will look better on a TV than a monitor. I sit at a computer desk to game on both my XBox and PC, so I'm not far away. What should I do? Go with a 24 in monitor such as the one I referenced in my post, or go with a 24 inch or bigger TV?

If I should go with a TV, can you make any suggestions as to what TV I should go with?

From personal experience monitors always look more crisp than TV's. Plus you sit closer and are able to view greater details.

I would simply not suggest you to buy TV for gaming as LCD/LED Monitors have 1 native resolution and the result is more crisp and clear than a TV. Do not buy TV just for gaming unless your really looking for a big size screen like a 40" or + as Monitor prices starts to get expensive when you go over 24" monitor. Your already looking at 24" size monitor and the one you planning to Benq RL2455HM it looks beautiful and it has great features and a TV in comparison to it is a straight NO NO

A friend of mine has a 27" and he also sits at his desk with the monitor about a feet or 2 max away from him. At a distance it looks awesome, cool and whatever else you want to throw at it but, as soon as you sit down and start playing something, your eyes tire and you get a headache, at least it happen to me.

I concur that a 23 or 24 is best for desktop playing. if you are going to create a family room to play on then perhaps a 40+ is the way to go but you would need to be at least 6 to 10 feet away to enjoy it.

Your miles may very on this opinion, more so if you are not as old as I am...
