just a thought, i assume they are both USB keyboard and mouse. check your power settings and make sure the usb isnt allowed to go into a reduced power state after so long.

I occasionally have the same problems. I have tried everything I can think of during the event, to no avail. The best theory I can dome up with is a driver issue.

Hi Maxheadroom, i had this problem & it took about a month before i found the solution in the end it was a Ram related issue for me i underline this because in my research i found there is so many different reasons it could be happening from one machine to the next this link to a vista tutorial is a good place to start Power Options and Sleep Mode Problems - Vista Forums even though its a vista tut. it is the same principals for 7. If you dont find a solution within the tutorial i would reccommend reading the posts submitted at the end as you will find a lot of differnent things that have worked for others ;)

Same problem here. It started when I went to 4gb memory. I'm running Windows 7(64)bit. I installed Windows with 2gb, then upgraded to 4. Everything else is running as it should, but when the computer goes into sleep mode the monitor wont turn back on. For now I've disabled sleep. Someone posted that it was a ram problem for him too, so I'll check the vista thread he suggested.

when you say it was a RAM issue was there a problem with the actual RAM itself as in a fault?
my RAM is new and ive still yet to test it.

You guys might want to compare your monitors, like how old or what type of connections.

Recycling the monitor means turning it on an off.

This utility, which I don't really notice comments about monitors, but something else may show up is meant to diagnose you sleep capability. Don't have any other programs running and make not of where it stores the resulting report.

Start a Admin prompt. Winkey -type cmd - CTRL-Shift + Enter the allow and type this (without quotes and a space after g) in the command window.

"powercfg -energy"

It will save a report to the Windows\System32 folder called energy-report.html. Maybe you will notice something. There is always a possibility you might need to update your Bios, or a driver for the monitor.

when you say it was a RAM issue was there a problem with the actual RAM itself as in a fault?
my RAM is new and ive still yet to test it.

I read in someone elses post where reseating the ram worked so i tried it and only put 1 of 2 sticks back in and it worked. but when i put the 2nd one back the problem was back, i mucked around with different configurations and no luck

Now in my manual it said, and also on ram specific websites. it said i could use 2 sticks with different speeds (approx 100mhz difference in my case) and it would just default to the slower of the 2

Which worked fine in all areas except recovering from sleep mode, the computer itself seemed to wake but not the monitor & had to hard boot.

In the end Two identical ram modules was the solution in my case no problems since

But please as i said in my earlier post this problem can be caused by so many different things from one computer to the next this is only what worked for me and would encourage to research the link i supplied earlier

Same here

I've been up on Win7 x64 for a couple of weeks. My original Viewsonic monitor had no problem going to powersave and back. Now my new Hanns-G 28" monitor will go to powersave when expected, but I have to cycle its power manually to wake it up after Win7 resumes from standby.

Any potential fixes out there? The RAM "fix" seems like a red herring....

I occasionally have the same problems. I have tried everything I can think of during the event, to no avail. The best theory I can dome up with is a driver issue.
