Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio card, nor my (NEW) HP printer/scanner/fax will work with Win 7. I down loaded beta drivers as was suggested and at least now the control panel is accessible, but still dont work. Sound is coming through the built in sound card in my Gateway. Can't plug my guitar in or record or anything. I get a pop up that says "current selected audio device is not supported by the application. Do you want to select another audio device?" Nor can I hook up my printer, nor can I use my DVD drive half the time. I had no trouble whatsoever with XP, and am wondering is 7 worth it? If any one has ANY suggestions I would sure like to hear from you.
Thanx-
Terryzzz

It sounds like your Win 7 installation is the problem and not the devices with all the problems you have. As you had XP before you had to do a complete new install, which generally is (1) Install Windows (2) install motherboard chipset drivers (3) Install device drivers. Also, since you had XP before, do you have Windows 7 drivers for all the hardware? (and is it Win 7 compatible)?

I'd get the basic system going first and then tackle the other devices one at a time.

ok, I followed your suggestion and I take it my motherboard is discontinued and not supported by windows 7, and I take it I might as well give up on 7 till I get a new puter. I have tried to boot up XP from disc but 7 wont let me. it skips "press any key to boot from disk" and goes right to windows 7. I have tried saving xp download and opening it in 7 and when it opens where you have the list of things you can do, install is grayed out, and wont let me try to install it that way. I am an old, computer illiterate, trying to learn about things computer, so please bear with me. I would really like to go back to xp for now so if you have any more suggestions for me I would really appreciate it. What kind of steel guitar is that??? I am a musician also. thanx again.
