More Than 3 Out of 4 Enthusiasts Reject Windows 8

Smart phones and tablets are the big rage, but there is still the segment that uses desktop/laptop computers and still needs a more conventional desktop. Not everyone is primarily into social media, videos, music, games, etc. There are those that use their computers for business productivity. Business' finally bought into Win 7, from XP, and started upgrading systems, software and training. They are not going to do another major $$ investment again this quick into the Win 8 arena.
Absolutely correct!!

I'd like to see something more with business productivity in mind. Also for a laptop or desktop. I have a smart phone and Android tablet ... my neck gets tired from looking down, and my arms get heavy holding the tablet up to my face :hot:

Jacee you have hit on a new market for tablets. Arm and neck exercises while you Google. Diet and exercise will always sell.

I'm sure that Apple or Google will bring out an optional exoskeleton accessory to take care of that problem. ;)

I used an iPad for a few minutes last November.
It was surprisingly heavy.

I'm sure they've tried to relieve some discomfort with the stand and portable keypad, which I have with my Android tablet .... no go when you need to turn the tablet and then you need to 'swipe' with all attached!

Kind you changes the term portability when you use the stand and keyboard. I can see a positive though. It improves you hand to eye coordination when turning the tablet and trying to catch the keyboard and stand and swipe the screen at the same time. When you get good at that add a portable mouse. Just joking. Wait a minute I see another market.
Easy assembled and break down Lan Party Computer with it own back pack you can take any where. Comes with screen, mouse, keyboard and its own stand. Note; Back Pack comes in two colors Black. I would like to get 2% of gross sales.
Jacee I can see the money rolling in now.

Sorry I started a thread sort of on this topic here but mine is more of a personal opinion sort of thread i was just interested in hearing folks thoughts on Windows 8 then I found this thread.
It's interesting to read the reviews from 2009 on windows 7 compared to the reviews we're reading now on windows 8 in 2012. Really looks like Microsoft did stop listening to what customers want for a desk-top it just doesn't look like it's working out for people, after all we already have tablets/ smart phones so we get our fix of touchscreens and apps from them when we actually want to get some work done or do something productive we go back to our trusty old desk-tops . I think Microsoft thought people were going to stop buying desk-tops and buy just tablets and smart phone but the fact is that tablets and smart phones have dropped in price so much that people were buying them aswell as their desk-top PC.

I think this is correct. Tablets are mostly being bought as toys. I don't really think that anybody (at this time) will really attempt a serious office application or video encoding on a normal tablet. That may be possible on some of the advanced devices. But for the price of one of those I can buy two nice laptops or desktops.

I don't think Video Encoding would even be possible unless you can some how rig a wireless burning drive and accelerate the hardware some and find a program that will allow such a thing to be linked

and you would need to find a app that would allow to decode and recode for burning lol common folk wouldn't even know where to begin

There is at least 1 video converter for Android. It claims to convert any format. I have not tried it. I would think that the Tegra3 quad core processor could perform the task. But I don't see myself doing those kinds of jobs on a tablet - at least not for now.

There is even a video editor (Magisto). But how much can you do on a small screen. I sometimes have trouble on the 22". And I want to see them run the WLMM on the Surface Pro.

You guys forget that Windows 8 is made for the more moronic part of the population. If you are intelligent, you are not being targetted. They want the money from the masses.

Hi there
Why should "Non Geeks, Non Desktop users" be regarded as the "More moronic part of the population".

Strangely - providing you just ignore the metro UI and don't have too many complex apps with weird sub choices in them Windows 8 is JUST AS EASY as W7 for using Windowed applications and the classical desktop.

True it takes some work to organise the desktop decently --delete a whole load of superfluous tiles when installing programs, and select a bunch of applications to pin to desktop and taskbar but once you've done that it's NO DIFFERENT to how you'd work in W7.

Like any major change the ist iteration isn't optimal -- I'm sure by Service pack 2 or Windows 9 (or whatever they call it by then) will have these bugs and quirks sorted out .

A lot of people just simply mouth comments without spending around 60 mins at most to see if the main complaints are really valid.

It IS frustrating when you start --especially if you are a power user because you'll instinctively make keystokes etc that you've been using in previous versions of Windows which won't always be the same - but I'd guarantee that with a small bit of work most people's objections could be easily solved-- and in any case I know loads of people using W7 that once they are in the desktop actually NEVER use the menu either.

enc screenshot (apart from the Orb -- Just like W7 so what's the prob). Even in W7 I didn't use the menu hugely anyway on my own private laptop -- at work where we have some obscure ERP systems with quite a few Back end DB systems it's slightly different but the average user isn't one of those types anyway.

Simple !!!!

Cheers
jimbo

It will not show in Homegroup but you will see it in the Added Devices ........ and Media drives

The Password is the Computer name and the Password that you use to log on to it's not the Router ID it is the PC you are trying to talk to

Basicly like turning on your PC and logging into Win 7

I think that would be worth a tutorial. Can you make one ??

I use the ES File Explorer too but have not yet ventured into homegroup. I was trying to stream from an OTG attached fast stick and even an SSD, but that does not work. It stutters.

Yeah, I think it would be nice if we could have a little corner in the tutorial section for Android tuts. Or a subforum for Android with a tut thread.

Strangely - providing you just ignore the metro UI and don't have too many complex apps with weird sub choices in them Windows 8 is JUST AS EASY as W7 for using Windowed applications and the classical desktop.
No offence but that is not accurate.

True it takes some work to organise the desktop decently --delete a whole load of superfluous tiles when installing programs, and select a bunch of applications to pin to desktop and taskbar but once you've done that it's NO DIFFERENT to how you'd work in W7.
Neither is that.

Have a nice day running Window 8.

The Password is the Computer name and the Password that you use to log on to it's not the Router ID it is the PC you are trying to talk to

You need to go here if you want to fix your issue http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/275503-homegroup-add-android-phone-tablet.html?ltr=H

maybe it isn't the password you think it is you can also turn off log on password to the PC itself and link as Anonymous as long as you internet connection is secure you don't need to worry
