Motherboard BIOS shrunk (display size)

About a month ago, one day when I turned my computer on, the BIOS display side had shrunk, leaving a 1 inch black border around the edge of the screen. This went away when I turned the computer on the following day, but has now come back. It doesn't seem to have any other adverse effects, but it bugs me. Can anyone explain why this might be and what I could do to make my BIOS full screen again?

The same thing happens occasionally on my system...usually when I cold-start from a power-off state. My monitor is an LG widescreen and I always leave it in standby, so it comes up when the PC starts.

I'm pretty sure it's just the monitor auto-adjusting the image size, which is a bit iffy since the POST is just some white text on a largely black background, i.e. no clear way for the monitor to really see where the borders end and the actual "image" begins. So on a cold start, my BIOS text fills the entire screen but on subsequent restarts (when the monitor stays on) it gets smaller with black edges, like what you describe.

In short, I think it's a normal occurence due to the way monitors work, and has nothing to do with your PC itself.

Hmm, ok. About the borders thing, the first thing to appear is the motherboard start up image, you know, with the manufacturer in big letters showing off all the things about the board? That has a definite border. But thanks for the feedback, its appreciated

Sure. Sorry, I don't know what else to tell you - I really think it's just a monitor quirk and nothing to be concerned about.
