Solved Mouse is "hit and miss"

hi all

firstly i hope this is in the right section.when i say the mouse is hit and miss i mean sometimes when trying to select text it misses the start of it and selects a small section in the middle.likewise if i'm using maps it fails to drag the map at times.i'm sure you've got this before.i'm curious since i didn't make any changes to my computer.any info you can supply would be most helpful.

EDIT:i also moved it to other usb ports on the computer but same story.

Hello recycler mate have you tried another mouse?? and just for starters run these if you haven't already

Run these in safe mode and the sfc often best run for two to three runs

Edit: Mate I would even try disabling and preferably getting rid of the McAfee as I have never been a fan of it. If you want a replacement for it there are plenty of decent free ones I can link you to.

Thank you ICIT2LOL man for your advice it is really appreciated.i swapped the mouse as suggested and things seem to be "cushty" so far as per Dellboy.as regards McAfee it is long gone.i found Avast somewhere on the forum and installed it.so far so good as they say.thanks again man for your help.

No worries recycler the MuckAfee I am assuming you used the removal tool to do that and even if you did I would check in the registry for any left over entries - if you are happy to do that.

You need to Start > type regedit > right click on that and choose Run as admin > go to the HKEY's LOCAL_MACHINE and CURRENT_USER > Software and scroll down the listing and look for McAfee in them and what I do is is to right click on them and then delete - it removes the very last traces of everything.

But if you are not happy with doing that then just leave as is.

One last thing you might be interested in is this http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/11728-optimize-windows-7-a.html < work through it slowly - you may lose some of the "bling" like transparency with a particular tweak but it is reversible. I use it on all my 7 machines to speed them up and make them more efficient.

Thanks ICIT2LOL man for all your help and tips.as regards the Muckafee as you call it i know it's gone because you may remember my corrupt files thread.well back then i restored to factory settings so that took care of it for me.registry is clear i just checked anyway.thanks again and keep up the good work you guys because is great to have ye to call on.

Good to hear and glad that AV is gone as it is one that is sometimes bundled with machines one buys.
