I want to create a document in MS Word (7), to be used as a template, and placed on my desktop. It would later be filled in and emailed. I don't know how to 1) Move the document from Word to a folder on my desktop. 2) Set up the email to quickly accept the document and send it on its way.( Would Outlook be best or could I us Gmail ok?)

All you have to do is create a "shortcut" on the desktop of whatever MSWord file you want. Then you can click on the icon for the file and open it in Word.

To create the shortcut, go to your Documents folder (normal place, but it you have files in some other folder, go to that folder). LEFT click on the file to highlight it and and then RIGHT click on "Send To" and select Desktop (create shortcut).

You can e-mail directly from MSWord. It will connect with your default e-mail program. I have MSWord 2003 but in that click on File, then Send To and there are several options. Later Word versions are probably the same or similar.

Create your Template the way you want it to look. When you save it Click on Save As, select Word Template from the file type list and Desktop as the location. Or once you save it create a short cut to it like firebird noted.

Thanks to Fireberd and dic41. So I tried to follow the directions and noticed I don't have a Send to:Desktop on my dropdown. Why? I checked another Win 7 computer and found that that on did have the send to: Desktop. That's what I like about this forum, answers set you off on the right course. Turns out that my Foxit PDF reader was the problem. It changes the dropdown and intercepts the send to. So, going to the Foxit, I found my Template which drug to the desktop and emailed with no problamo. Again tnx...
