If J will boot using the one-time BIOS Boot Menu key then I wouldn't worry about it, however if not it may require the same Repairs as done to the other HD when only it is plugged in.

With separate HD's, you want to boot by setting preferred HD as first HD to boot in BIOS setup (after DVD drive) then boot the other HD using one-time BIOS Boot menu key.

Yes, this worked. I can swap between the windows installations by reordering the disks in BIOS. It's not something I'll need to be doing regularly, and I'm happier doing this than having it as a dual boot as it keeps the new installation "clean".

Good new, Andrew. You should also have a one-time BIOS Boot Menu hotkey to make it easier to boot the other HD:

Toshiba - F12
Dell - F12
IBM/Lenovo - the blue Thinkvantage button
