Hello. I'll try to keep this short and sweet.

Computer: Dell Studio 1737, Win7 64bit.

Issue: I could always print to networked and wireless printers...never had a problem. After upgrading to MS Office 2010 (from MS Office 2007), I lost that ability. Whenever I attempt to "add a printer" through Word or Excel, etc., I get the lovely "Active Domain Directory Services in unavailable" error.

I have also attempted to connect to numerous networked/wireless printers through the Windows "Add a Printer" in the control panel, but to no avail, even though I know the local IP addresses of these printers (Windows simply can't find the printers).

How can I go about fixing this?

Work arounds used to include mapping the printer and setting it to default before opening Office applications... But, you can rollback the MS update to Office to relieve this problem.

There's a (potential) solution for this over here - see IANMAC222's response (quoted below):
Active directory domain services unavailable - Microsoft Answers

I have had the Active directory domain services unavailable message for months whenever I tried to add a printer from Control Panel or Word. However, I just opened Notepad, went to Find Printer and added the printer from there, and I can now print from all programmes.
