Jack, it's most often used as MBAM Malware Bytes Anti Malware.

No issues using Norton Internet Security, (NIS) on tow machines, the KB is 4 days old now.

Looks those having third Party Anti virus/Internet security software are more affected by. Got only MSE 4.2...could be why not having issues.

I haven't uninstalled yet that kb2823324...'cause of no trouble, nothing appears in the Events Manager (ID55).

If a patch comes soon i'll do then.

I'm fully aware of that. I just don't like it because a acronym is by design to shorten a group of words.
MBAM is by far the most used method.
So everybody can have a good nights rest I will just stop using MAM.
I assume you will all be as criticizing of cell phone text methods and other little little goodies that are use here.

i uninstalled it with no issues on 2 machines, actually one machine after I had installed the security updates was acting very funky, program and features would not load for me to uninstall it, and I lost the internet.
I rebooted, still no internet, finally uninstalled the bad update, after the reboot internet came back.

the other machines I uninstalled it on (40) are so far ok after the uninstall

I just uninstalled successfully on the laptop and got the same issue reported earlier by kado897: Got offered it again via Windows Update within minutes.
I suppose the servers haven't all caught up.
So, it's hidden on that rig for now.

As I have no issues on either of the other 2 rigs (despite the fact that I am running a Kaspersky security product, though not the same version mentioned in the MS article), I think I will wait a day or so before uninstalling on these other boxes.

Still interested in feedback from others about their experience with the patch and with any issues uninstalling it.

Because it could mislead someone who isn't familiar with the software.

The majority of people will never know that this is/was a problem... so they will never uninstall it much less hide it. Time will tell if the patch to the patch works well.

I've uninstalled it from one "important" computer. I'm leaving it inside a virtual machine so that I can play with it. Maybe I'll install Kaspersky stuff. I like Kerbs' broken window.

I installed the update on several systems and didn't have any issues.
After reading about the warnings, I uninstalled it on a couple of systems without any problems.
By uninstalling it, I feel I re-opened security holes the update fixed.
If someone uninstalls it and gets hit by something that exploits the unpatched security hole, they are screwed.
If someone keeps it and something happens that breaks the system because of the faulty update, they are screwed.
Until MS has a fix, I think it's a personal best guess to decide if it's better to uninstall the update for stability, or keep it for security.

Lets face it. MS security updates are up to one month out of date. If MS considers this a high risk they will roll out a replacement PDQ.

Thanks very much for that helpful link.

It does seem to be the case that only certain users of KL enterprise products are affected (as listed in the KB article).

I run KIS (a consumer product) on all 3 of my Win7 rigs and experienced no such license validation issue after installing KB 2823324 on all of them, before the issue was even known.
FWIW very few other users of their home products have had a problem, either, at least based on reporting at their user forum: Compatibility of KIS2013 MP1 and Windows Update - Kaspersky Lab Forum

I've likewise experienced none of the severe stability issues that prompted MS to pull the update.
All of my systems have been rebooted several times since Patch Tuesday, with no problems.

I did go ahead and uninstall KB 2823324 on one of the 3.
Since the WU servers immediately offered it back to me as an "Important" update, I had to "hide" it.
I'm going to wait a bit longer for the servers to catch up before uninstalling on the other 2.

Assuming, that is, that's it's not premature to uninstall an important security patch from systems that are working fine....???

As several members posting here have pointed out:
1) Most users probably have no idea of the issue, let alone of the MS recommendation to uninstall the patch;
2) Fixing one issue (the potential stability problem) might create another (a security vulnerability that the patch was designed to close).

So, for me, at least, this doesn't seem to be very cut-and-dry.

If someone uninstalls it and gets hit by something that exploits the unpatched security hole, they are screwed.

In that case, your antivirus will warn you and your firewall may as well block it altogether if properly configured. Layered defenses really help there. Anyway, that particular error was unpatched before that update, yet nobody complained about it. If your security software is working (THE most important being common sense), I don't see any reasons to alarm.

I suppose if the thing was really detrimental MS could/would issue an out of cycle update that would remove the KB2823324 update.

Just a FWIW....
If/When MS reissue the update, it will probably be the same KB number - with a new version.
It will automatically unhide the update if necessary, and install in whatever is the normal way for your machine.
If it's already installed (as v1) then it will be updated as (v2).

I just read about this now. I had it installed on my system and it's been running fine for the past week.

According to the article release by M$ it seems to affect people with Kaspersky AV and Brazilian x86 and x64 OSes, but knowing M$ those are the only "known" issues right now. Who knows what other things this patch comes in conflict with. I went ahead and uninstalled it.
