Hello,

We have MS Server 2008 R2.
We have printers that staff can print to that have locked security via security tab in Windows for that particular printer.

We also have a wireless network for public users.
Public users who have Mac laptops can connect to these printers instantly.
I just tested a Windows 7 machine - and they can add the printer that is locked down as well.

Does anyone know how to prevent the public from adding staff printers?

thanks!
-Mike

Mike Green, welcome to the windows 7 forum.

the best way is to put your wireless users on a separate network ip range. Also set the security on the printers to AD users only. The public users might be able to see the printer by IP if they are on the same subnet but if the security is set to only AD users allowed, then they could not print or do anything to your network printers.

What "locked security" settings are set?

Rich
