I am a very old and inexperienced user who has to change ISP for a list of reasons. I am with Virgin at present but not much longer. Last night I tried to set up a Hotmail account using my very old XP machine. I did not use my windows 7 in case of any problems. I discovered I needed Live Mail so I had to download this. As part of the process I was asked did I want to have MSN and the Bing toolbar installed. I accepted both assuming both were required. My live Mail account has set up fine.
However, every time I try to use the Internet Explorer shortcut it brings up an MSN 'set up account' page which leads me to a a page which says my XP copy of msn is out of date and offers for me to order a CD-at my cost. I can only seemingly access Internet Explorer nowvia my router set-up.
Do I have to have msn to have hotmail? How do I go back to being able to use Internet Explorer as my web browser and how do I stop this msn screen appearinfg all the time? I don't want to buy msn as the XP is on its last legs.
Can someone please help me in very simple terms
Thankyou

It all sounds fishy. I would check for viruses.

Internet Explorer:
Regardless of the Windows version press Win Key or Start button, then locate RUN menu. If not present, it can be called by WIN+R combination (Press and hold WIN key then press R key).
Copy and paste this line to that Run window:
Code:
iexplore
Click OK button. Internet Explorer should popup.
