Multi-boot/Dual-Boot Windows XP on Windows 7

Did you get a warning message from Nlite when you were slipstreaming about 64 bit?

The install may fail if there is a 64 bit driver in there.

Are you trying to boot from the installer now?

F6 isn't used when you slipstream drivers, in XP F6 is to add drivers into installer using floppy.

I don't think Nlite knew. Just a warning everytime you integrate drivers.

I haven't tried the installer yet. Should I try now?

If you think you slipstreamed a 64 bit driver, you need to retrace your steps to find it and remove it.

Does anything bad happen if the installation fails?

I think I'll try it like this first (Gateway says it's 32-bit anyways).

If it fails, then I'll pull it out.

It will bluescreen on a 64 bit driver, or hopefully spit it out.

Do you have a bootable installer?

Will it boot?

Yeah, it should boot. I did the same thing like yesterday, just integrating the drivers. BRB I'll start it up.

Looks like a slipstreaming error.

Make a new copy of XP files, slipstream in only that Storage Driver you found by name, then remake the bootable installer and try again.
Ok.... which would that be?

I have the original XP files still (Good thing I made that).

The one I squared? So pretty much, I just put the two chipsets in and that's it?

I was looking at the other thread, which this guy's problem about boot.ini file having problems or something. His problem was successful, but eh, he already had it installed.

Search results are conflicting about whether AHCI can be recognized by XP.

I just talked to the smartest guy I know on Xp installs and he says that AHCI can be used by XP, to slipstream in the SATA driver but ONLY the SATA driver as it takes expertise to know which drivers to add and one incorrect can FUBAR the slipstreamed installer.

So I just slipstream that only one? With the original XP files correct?

Make a copy of the original XP files, name it to denote only SATA driver.

The copy will then be slipstreamed.

Be certain to preserve your original XP files.

I'm copying the files with WinToFlash on that tutorial you gave me to put it on my flash.

Just remember that the copy of XP which you load into Nlite to slipstream will be the one that gets the slipstreamed driver(s).

Nlite doesn't produce anything at the end except an ISO if you make one. The drivers have already been slipstreamed into the XP files you first loaded.

I installed the first part, but when I try to install the second part, it says something about an error of hal.dll file. I can't start-up Windows 7 until I finish it up, so I'm hoping.
