Muting HDMI Sound

Is there any keyboard key or combination which will mute HDMI sound?

I have a Radeon 5670 video card which connects to an HD TV through HDMI.
Sound works fine except I cannot adjust the sound level or mute the system
sound without navigating through several layers of graphic, mouse activated
selections. Since my card is an ATI, I do have Catalyst Control Center with
hotykey functions but they do not include a muting capability for HDMI.

I can mute and adjust sound level to the TV using the remote, but that requires
grabbing another piece of hardware which always seems to be just out of reach.
Since nVidia has the capability to mute HDMI sound, I figure ATI must have some
way to do it also.

Any help appreciated!

Hello Rhinse,

You should be able to adjust your volume and mute it by clicking on the mute button from the Volume icon in the taskbar notification area.

Other than your remote, some keyboards will have a mute button on them.

Hope this helps some, :)

Well, I appreciate the comment and am aware of he sound icon in the tray, it still involves
mouse movements which are more difficult with a wireless touchpad and movement over a
screen resolution of 1920 x 1080. I would really like to have a single key solution.

I came across NIRCMD.exe (NirCmd - Windows command line tool) a little while
ago and, although it is supposed to work in Windows 7, it will not mute HDMI sound.
Something like this that would work for HDMI audio would be perfect.

My wireless Rii remote has a mute button, one click and its silent.

Amazon.com : Hausbell ® Mini H7 2.4GHz Wireless Entertainment Keyboard with Touchpad for PC, Pad, Andriod TV Box, Google TV Box, Xbox360, PS3 & HTPC/IPTV(White) : Keyboard And Mouse Sets : Electronics

Looks just like this but does not say Hausbell, anyway it has been really good working.
Keyboard not lighted which I wish it was.

There are variations of this.
Ok, I found ours on Amazon which is where we got this.

The battery looks like a lithium cell phone type. The advantage of RF is it just works vs bluetooth which may not work. When I first bought this, people were complaining about bluetooth versions failing to connect.
