Hi all Malwarebytes free edition found a file called "Muvic smartbar engine" not sure what this is ? something like a Cookie? anyway I told malware to quarantine it, which it has, but then I noticed that its also in my program list in control panel / programme features but it wont uninstall, is this because malware has in quarantine ? in the quarantine history bit of malware there about 6 files been held that have smartbar in description, how do I get rid of this program ??? is it a fret even ? thanks for any help

Muvic Toolbar is a browser hijacker, which is promoted via other free downloads, and once installed it will add the Muvic Smartbar, change your browser homepage to search.snap.do, and set your default search engine to Snap.do Search.

The Muvic Toolbar it’s technically not a virus, but it does exhibit plenty of malicious traits, such as rootkit capabilities to hook deep into the operating system, browser hijacking, and in general just interfering with the user experience. The industry generally refers to it as a “PUP,” or potentially unwanted program.

Going to control panel/programs & features, if you see it listed, you should select it, r click & the uninstall option should be shown. If it does not uninstall, this wouldn't be a surprise as programs like this tend to be a bit clingy.

Even if you uninstall it through the programs & features, it would be a good idea to d/l & install Malwarebytes. Download the free version, install it & make sure to uncheck the "start free pro trial" box at the end of the installation. Do a full system scan & allow it to quarantine anything it finds.

After running Malwarebytes, d/l & run AdwCleaner. Quarantine anything it finds, you will be asked to reboot your PC in most instances.

Hopefully this should clean your PC. As an added precaution, d/l & run TDSSKiller to rule out the possibility of a rootkit. This is a quick scan.

It it still present on your browser? If so, you need to remove it from the browser. About 1/4 way down this page link are the steps to remove from various browsers.

https://www.how-to-remove.com/muvic-smartbar/

D/L & run TFC then reboot .

Download TFC from the download link above and save the file on your desktop.
Close ALL running applications as TFC will terminate them before attempting to clean up the temporary files.
Double-click on the TFC icon.
When the program starts, click on the Start button. TFC will terminate the Explorer process and all running applications and then begin the process of cleaning out all of your temp folders.
When done, press OK to reboot your computer and finish the cleanup.
If it is not showing up on the browser or anywhere else, then you probably are clean & there are just leftover files. D/L CCleaner (the free version) & run the cleaner as well as the Registry cleaner. The reg cleaner will give you the option to back up the reg files to be deleted, make sure you say yes to backing up the files. Put them on the desktop for easy access so that in case something doesn't work right, you can re-install them with a single click.

CCleaner also has a uninstall feature for programs.

This link has a listing of file locations for the smartbar. You may need to delete some of these manually depending on how stubborn it is.

I would cautiously say that you are probably clean. If you are not seeing any strange PC behavior & the malware scanners are not finding anything, then that's good. If it is absent from your browser, also a good sign. Keep an eye on your PC & run Malwarebytes & AdwCleaner on a weekly basis to make sure it doesn't try to make a comeback. It's also a good habit to get into, running malware scanners on a regular schedule to make sure you keep everything clean.

Do a search on your main drive for "smartbar" & if it finds files or folders, delete those. For example, check under program files to see if a file like this is present.[%PROGRAM_FILES%]\Bechiro S.L\smartbar

Another check would be to R click on the taskbar, start task manager & under processes see if it's listed as running.

That's a listing for the page your browser is on....I have the same thing except listed as FF since I'm running that. Check the processes tab to see if there is any indication of it running. If it's not, then it looks good.

OK, wait a sec. Malware Protection 360. When did this show up & did you install it? I would recommend you run a full system scan with Malwarebytes to see what it makes of that program.

Before you run a full system scan with Malwarebytes, d/l & run Rkill. Do not reboot after running. Then scan with Malwarebytes.

After running Malwarebytes, also run AdwCleaner

As RKill only terminates a program's running process, and does not delete any files, after running it you should not reboot your computer as any malware processes that are configured to start automatically will just be started again. Instead, after running RKill you should immediately scan your computer using some sort of anti-malware or anti-virus program so that the infections can be properly removed.
Malware Protection 360 is a potentially unwanted program or adware which has taken over user's browser recently. This adware pretends to be a useful application to optomize computer. However,Malware Protection 360 is another ads-platform that may bring computer users many annoying ads.The main purpose of Malware Protection 360 pop up is to promote the Malware Protection 360 application. To achieve this goal, Malware Protection 360 is designed to target almost all web browsers including the most popular ones such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer.

However, it is not trustable. The file downloaded from this pop up named MalwareProtection360.exe. Thi executed file or application has been detected as adware by 1 anti-malware scanner with very strong indications that the file is a potential threat. It runs as a scheduled task under the Windows Task Scheduler triggered to execute each time a user logs in.It is suggested to remove Malware Protection 360 as soon as possible.
