My Computer,auto restarts on BSOD

Hi My computer,auto restarts on BSOD.plus No Minidump file is recorded to the C:\Windows\Minidump folder.
I have start-up & recovery set to small memory dump,// write an event to system log ticked,// plus auto restart
nu-ticked. Here is the some of the specks of my computer.

It is difficult to analyze crashes without the .dmp files. However, if you follow the http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/96879-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html, the system logs they contain may provide some clues to the problem.

Sorry, but like i said No .dmp files is being recorded in C:\Windows\Minidump folder. plus
I have start-up & recovery set to small memory dump.

As I said, if you follow those instructions, the system logs may still help...

The system logs do not require .dmp files...

thanks for the link, but my computer is already set to, not auto restart, & to write an event to system log.

No .dmp files, but your report did yield useful information. You have a 0x124 hardware bugcheck. If the system is still under warranty, I would recommend sending it in to have diagnostic tests done and any bad hardware replaced.

   Warning

For your hardware stop 0x124 crash, read through http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lockup-debug-how/35349-stop-0x124-what-means-what-try.html and use the following hardware checks to supplement that link.

• If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.
  
  
• Monitor temperatures during the following tests.
  
  Use the following programs to monitor the temperatures.​
  • Real Temp is a good CPU temperature monitor.
  • Speccy - System Information - Free Download will monitor all hardware temperatures.
  • HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools can be inaccurate for CPU temperatures, but is a good program for GPU temperature monitoring.
  • Use FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net to test the graphics card GPU. Let it run until the GPU temperatures even out or until the GPU temperatures reach a dangerous level (you can find the max temperature for your card on either the nVidia or AMD sites; if you are not sure, ask us). The goal is to get a steady temperature, find out if the GPU is overheating, or to see if there are any artifacts present in the test itself: look for strange pixelated patterns on the screen or colors that do not look like they belong. Then use the |MG| Video Memory Stress Test 1.7.116 Download to test your graphics card memory. Let the memory test run for at least seven passes; the more the better.
    
    
  • Run http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100352-hardware-stress-test-prime95.html to determine any hardware problems. Run all three tests for a few hours each. If you get errors, stop the test and post back here.
    
    
  • Follow the steps for doing CPU stress test using IntelBurnTest
  
  
• Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).
  
  For Part 3: If You Have Errors: If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:
  1. Shut down and turn off your computer.
  2. Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
  3. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.
  4. Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wristband to attach to the anti-static material while working. If you do not have an anti-static workbench, desk, or pad, you can use your computer tower/case by finding a metal hold in it, such as a drive bay.
  Once these steps have been followed, it is safe to remove and replace components within your computer.

thank you for your help, & no my comp has no [FONT=&quot]warranty left. I have another computer that has the same graphics card in (EVGA NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS) I have had the same problem with that as well. At the time I was thinking it was maybe, bad memory. So i replaced all the memory in MY computer. So maybe the hardware problem might be my graphics card ? Is there away i can i test my card ? Thank you

If you read my previous post, there are two tests included for the graphics card. FurMark and the Video Memory Stress Test. I would also recommend doing the Prime95 test.


We should also check your RAM compatibility:

• Download and install CPU-Z and Upload screenshots of the CPU, Mainboard, Memory, and SPD tabs. In the SPD tab, upload an image of each slot.

hi. right i downloaded GPU-Z & Core Temp let my computer run for 2 hours just doing normal stuff like browsing & some downloads, my CPU temp stayed at 32/34c & my GPU 51c to 61c. Then i opened up Bigasoft Total Video Converter to covert from f4v to avi, & my CPU temperature shot right up to 110c, then BSOD happened. Would you think my CPU is knackered, or should i try a bigger fan on there. ? Thank you for any info or help might give.

It sounds like you do not have adequate cooling for the processor. Maximum temperature for that processor is 55-63 C, so you are definitely cooking it when converting video. I would be concerned about possible damage to the processor itself, as well.

Did you apply the thermal compound properly on the processor? Thermal Paste and How To Use It | techPowerUp


Is the heatsink securely in place over the processor? Gently wiggling it with your finger should not allow it to budge at all.

Hi. I have now reseated my CPU with fresh Thermal paste, my temperature ranges from 31c to 45c using core temp,however my computer has shut down on its own about 4 times now. I then used a power supply calculator on the web, it was saying i needed 601wats with all i was running. My question is would you think my PS is not man enough ? My power supply is 580wats. I'm now waiting for a new 750watt corsair PS & a new Arctic Cooling Freezer fan to arrive. Any input would much appreciated. Thank you very much.

Calculators are not necessarily always right. They tend to over-estimate for a margin of safety. That said, it still is probably a good idea to upgrade. Running with a power supply lower than recommended may work for a time, but it will eventually start to stress it and may cause it to fail over time.

Your steps sound like good troubleshooting. Let us know how things go with the fan and PSU.

Hi. OK hears what iv done so far. I installed my new power supply, & cleaned out as much dust as i could, i got no change. I then followed that by changing my heatsink & fan, & still my system starts to overheat when i make it work, IE convert video flv to avi. I have now swopped all old for new, memory/psu/HS&fan. In idle mode core temp tells me Core 0 is 22c & Core 1=24c, Browsing & doing General Stuff 33c to 48c. I have also noticed if i reboot, say after 2 hours of running, just after windows start ups, my temperature shoot all the way up, & sometimes my computer just shuts itself down. If left to stand, for my computer to cool down for about an hour, it will then boot up & run normal, until of course i make it work. Any any ideas as to what i should do now ? Thank you.
