Hi all, my old Win7 computer (about 10 years old) was having problems and would not play some of the games I recently purchased, so I built a new one. Not cutting edge, but up there, and after doing a fresh install of Win7 and spending hours installing 169 updates, I thought it was good to go. This morning it wanted to install 19 more updates, so I did that, then it told me my hardware was too new for Windows 7 and that it would no longer look for or accept updates. Specifically, my CPU (an AMD Ryzen 7 2700) was too new and I must "upgrade" to Windows 10 as the hardware was made for that OS. This nagware (it pops up about every 30 minutes or so) must have been in one of the 19 updates this morning. Anyone know which update, so that I can uninstall it? The system works fine and screams along, I am just tired of the nagware. If no one knows which update it is, I'll just delete the last 19, one by one until I find it and post the results.

Was able to get a pic of the error message the system gives me, but not the notification balloon.

I posted the answer - install wufuc. It is a program, not an expletive.

You can use the msi installer at the link I posted.

Problem solved! Thanks all.

Thanks SIW2, that worked! As soon as I installed it, I ran the update check again and it found 9 important updates and was able to install them without the nagware popping up. Sorry for the late reply, I work in retail and as you can imagine, it's been crazy the last week preparing for Black Friday and the holiday shoppers. First time I've had a chance to get back to the forums.

wufuc does not seem to work anymore

I get "There is a problem with this installer package. A Program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected." And in Event Log I see two related "System Restore" eventID 8193 failures:
Failed to create restore point (Process = C:\windows\system32\msiexec.exe /V; Description = Installed wufuc; Error = 0x80070422).
And then I get Event ID 11722:
Product: wufuc -- Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action CreateScheduledTask, location: C:\windows\Installer\MSI5A9A.tmp, command: /HideWindow schtasks.exe /Create /XML "C:\Program Files\wufuc\wufuc_ScheduledTask.xml" /TN "wufuc.{72EEE38B-9997-42BD-85D3-2DD96DA17307}" /F

The system is able to create a restore point without error if I trigger one manually
