My Hardrive is filling up with WHAT?

I just downloaded it to leave some stats for whs. It will take me time to actually learn the program, but it looks comprehensive.
It is comprehensive, but it does take a minute to figure out what you are looking at. It's great for pin-pointing what is using your space.

Hey DeaconFrost,
It looks like it will be an interesting journey. Thanks for the confidence building!!!

The obvious question is that if I set it for 22.37 GB why did it take up over 270 GBs on it apparently own volition.
As I said in my PM, you must have accidently moved the slider - else I do not have the faintest idea on how that could have happened.
I have though seen other posts where the shadowstorage allocation was very strange, One OP had a Maximum of 130% of his whole partition space. Try to figure that out. Those things are most likely user errors.

Glennc,

I very strongly recommend you get to know WinDirStat if you are having issues with losing drive space.
It is an extremely helpful tool that will allow you to find all the files and information you are looking for to delete, move, or whatever the files causing your space issues.

Then I recommend to get far more in depth by getting to know Xinorbis.

It may be information overload at first, but the more time you spend studying and using them, the more you will understand what is really going on.

With Xinorbis, you won't need everything it offers, and what you will need will be right in front of you, pretty darn user friendly in my opinion

Hey Tepid,
Thanks for all the information. Yes I really should learn each of the programs and will start tomorrow. I just want to relax with my large empty main drive. I didn't explain the process, without really using my noodle I started storing stuff on a partition on my second drive because of the small amount of room left. Now I can move the videos to where they belong. You members are extremely helpful and knowledgeable from experience here. I have learned a lot.

I would like to give a quick tip for the times this happens.
If you encounter a slow system or a full harddrive, i always use Ccleaner (Piriform - Download CCleaner, Defraggler, Recuva, Speccy - Millions of users worldwide!), which runs a clean through your system, and deletes old stuff you don't need anymore (and perhaps never seen or heard from before). Also i would like to share with you a program called TreeSize Free: JAM Software - Windows Freeware This little piece of software shows all your folders, sorted on the size of the content inside the folder. So you don't have to search no more.

Howdy tedman,
Thanks for the tips. Have used several of those products with seemingly good results. Will look into that JAM and Speccy. Take care.

Also check out Treesize. It arranges your whole folder structure in such a way that you can easily see where the big chunks are.
