Solved My husband's computer is unable to get online

Hi! My husband's Windows xp laptop computer is unable to get online, today. But my two laptop computers are able to do so. So the problem is on his computer. I have run the troubleshooter on his computer, but it can't find the problem. And I see that under Network Connections, these 2 both have red x's next to them: (1) Wireless Network Connection and (2) Local Area Connection 2. Number (1) says it is firewalled.

I have run Malwarebytes and CCleaner. And network diagnostics.

Will the XP machine access net plugged in via ethernet?

Hi! I couldn't find a button on the laptop that turns internet off or on. Ok I now did what you said, Samuria. I typed cmd and here is what it says:

And I repeat to you: Both of my laptop computers here are able to get on the internet fine. But his xp laptop computer is not able to do so today. We get online with a router and have a wireless internet and has worked fine.

As to your last post, XP is not supported for virus protection and hasn't been for years, WHY WOULD YOU ACCESS YOUR BANK ACCOUNT FROM AN INSECURE OPERATING SYSTEM???????
Or Windows 7 now for that matter?

The ipconfig show media is disconnected the wireless is very old and may not connect to modern routers the cable is shown disconnected so the cable could be at fault or router port. Is there any yellow triangles in device manager?

Hi! Thanks for the advice about not doing banking through a Windows XP computer! Since it is outdated and not given full protecton. I don't know how to view things in the Device manager in his xp computer. I saw a manila folder for it but didn't recognize anything in it as there are no words. I think I'll just bring his computer back to factory condition through the F key recommended for that - forgot what it is - I'll look it up online. I've successfully restored my 2 other computers in the past in that way. I'll first save all pictures he wants before going ahead with that. Thanks again for all of your help in this!

Hi! Thanks for the suggestion! It turns out my husband managed to fix the problem now after a long period of working on the problem. But I copied the link for more options in case the problem ever happens again and we don't know what to do. I'll bring this to a close now.

Hi! My husband finally fixed the problem by running the "Return to an earlier time" feature in the computer tools. I thought I had tried that already, but maybe I picked a bad restore point. In any case, this lets you know that the problem is fixed and that this is how he fixed the problem.
