I didn't "allow" anything lol I am not really sure what I might had done to disable it.....I am not that versed in computer programs and commands. I do occasionally do some clean up such as the recommended DE-fragmenting by the computer system. Other than the kaspersky anti-virus program I have not used, downloaded or installed any registry cleaner.

For a start, never use a registry cleaner - they all are dangerous.

Defragging the hard drive more than once every couple of months is a waste of time - modern drives are fast enough that the performance improvement is unlikely to be noticeable.

If KAV has a quick-scan option, do that once a week, and only bother with a full scan if the quick one turns up anything.
Add MalwareBytes Anti-Malware - the free version - and do a weekly quick scan with that (after updating it!) and a regular (monthly/6-weekly) full scan (www.malwarebytes.org )

Always check the 'options' when installing/downloading anything - some companies (e.g. Adobe) are sneaky about what they pack with otherwise essential items, and you could end up getting more than you bargained for.

Beware 'click-happy' syndrome - it's all too easy a trap to fall into, clicking OK can get to be a habit, and it only takes one thoughtless click to get your machine infected with a virus or ransomware which can destroy all your data. It's something that everyone does at some point (don't believe anyone who claims it's never happened to them!), and the consequences can be dire.

Back up your data - to external media. USB hard drives are cheap enough nowadays, and can save a lot of heartache. One of the problems with just backing up to a second partition, or an internal second drive is that if you get hit by a fire or a lighting strike, then your backup may well go the same way as the original - You may want to consider cloud backups as well/instead.
