You have too many things loaded on startup. Type "msconfig" in start menu and click it. Disable what is not needed on startup in that.

Other than your AV program and a possible startup you initiated yourself (e.g. Desktop Gadgets or a custom dock, etc. ), you can disable everything. That does not mean that it will not run when needed - it will just be called as needed.

Have to be careful though, I was going to recommend killing all HP services but last thing we want is him accidentally killing his wireless! lol! Seriously, just google for the services which puzzle you and handle accordingly - you might learn a thing or two too!

I mean the Startup Item name. (I thought that's what we were talking about.) Expand the field so I can see the full name.

Also, you have a LOT of "stuff" running as current Processes.

What exactly do you use your PC for and why are you leaving so many programs running in the background?

There's a couple of things that you might be able to do without on startup. If you're still in the ArcStart program you can certainly leave that. Also, I noticed you disabled Bluetooth Software. What Bluetooth devices are you using? If you're not using any, you can get rid of HP Wireless Assistant too. This is just more HP "Bloatware".

Here's a couple of optional startup processes. You may or may not want to disable them but there are Windows 7 equivalents that don't require additional software.
