NAT32 to NTFS help!

Not too sure if this is the relevant place to post this. I recently changed my NTFS to FAT32 and since then windows recognise the device being plugged in but it doesnt seem to be showing up on the "my computer" screen at all. Im running windows 7 at the moment, but i have no idea why this is happening.
Also, whenever i go into my devices, the only device that i think is the right one says "USB to ATA/ATAPI Bridge" ? what does that mean??
Can anyone helpe me please!! I need my external hard drive for my uni course work.
I have also went into folder options and unticked the "hide empty drives"

Why downgrade?
NTFS is more secure.
Larger file sizes.

Whats the benefit to Fat32?

Bloody xbox 360.......i was being over ambitious and excited with lots of stuff i can watch etc...then realised when i did it (well atleast i think i did) i came back and realised that i needed the space more for my laptop. idiot.....

But have you gone into device management? And looked to see if its being picked up just without a drive letter?

Yea, i went into device management and saw which one disappeared when i removed it and it still comes back up when i plug it back in. My laptop also recognises it when it's plugged in but it doesnt come up on "computer".......no idea why this is.

dude, thank you so much. that was awesome...but...erm, i have a problem. when i select the drive that needs to be assigned to, it wont give me the option of "change drive letters and and paths". It only give's me this when i right click it -

(these are the only options i can choose)

"new simple volume"

"properties"

"help"

lol.....

Or if i select "disk 1" it gives me an extra option from the others called "convert to GTP disk".....

im getting this error message when my computer crashes, but when i try to download some debugging software, at the end it says i dont have permission to do this. i cant dl anything..please help!
