Recently I have been looking around the partitions in my laptop. Then I came across a partition in disk management which wasn't labelled any letter and the status was active recovery partition(2GB).There were another 2 recovery partitions for OS and drivers. After that I used partition wizard to see the details of the partition,In that, the partition is named as WINRE partition.I don't have much idea about this and have heard windows has a system reserved partition but that was meant to have only 100 MB, right?.Can anyone explain me the purpose of this WINRE partition.

Hi

The 1st and the last 2 partitions cannot be touch.

The 1st partition is for bootable the system, that will point to the C:\ drive which can be in any partition.

The last 2 partition is a Recovery partitions in case you want to restore to factory setting.

There may have an option for you to create Recovery disc, which you may have to do it.

This is in case the HDD failed, where you cannot even do recovery and re-install to factory setting.

Also to recovery, it required you to go back to the seller &or manufacturer for re-install, with charges.

Eric.
