I see nothing informative in any of the dumps, which is in itself information. From where I sit, I'd call it a hardware issue, although there is one software possibility in my mind. SPTD, a driver Daemon Tools and Alcohol 52/120% use, has made a name for itself by causing ugly crashes that appear to be caused by hardware. Have him uninstall the program he's using, then remove SPTD itself with a tool found here: DuplexSecure

Am I correct in understanding he can boot up in Safe Mode?

SP2 needs to be installed: How to obtain the latest Windows Vista service pack

It's also worth running hardware tests, starting with RAM. Show him this: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html

It doesn't look like a hard drive problem, but a run with SeaTools won't hurt: SeaTools for DOS | Seagate
