Hello!
Well, I purchased an Acer Aspire One that has Windows 7 starter on it,
From all that I had read before I purchased it I didn't see any of the problems I'm having so I have no clue as what to do.
I have an administrator account on it, everything seems to be like it should. .
But I tried to download flashplayer into a file of a browser I use instead of enternet explorer (As enternet explorer has totaled some of my past computers. . )
but it said, I could not save the file there, as to ask Admin to do so.
. . .
Also another completely annoying factor, the mouse auto clicks on everything if held on a link past, say what. . 2 seconds? At the most? I can't find anywhere to change this.
I've gone through over and over, and still can't find the problem, I'm an admin on it. . Why won't it let me do admin stuff?

PLeaase help me, I've own many desktops in my life and now that I work, and travel alot I wanted just a simple little laptop and the acer one had simply sounded perfect from my research,
but It's annoying the snot outta me and won't let me do what I would think be completely normal things.
Please help :(

Thanks in advance!
~Tyz

Edit: No ones replyin, so If no can help me change this, I understand. . But if you can at least tell me if it's fixable or not would be helpful so I'd know to return it or not.

are you using firefox, chrome? it should let you download flash with no problems. You say this is a new laptop right? What i always do is a clean install with any new pc, laptop etc. There are several steps to take when doing a clean install but it should be your last option.

Auto clicks? i don't understand, but it can help to know what kind of software your acer is using to enable the touchpad.

For your clicking needs please go to Start - Control Panel - Folder options and check General tab under Click items as follows or try touchpad setting as BTNH108464 suggested.

Regarding Admin/ downloading issue, please specify where are you trying to save that file?
Is it possibly to select open files instead saving when browser prompts for download?

Also, please go to Start - Control panel - User Accounts and check that under your account is written Administrator and it is Password protected.

Save any downloads, then rightclick on them to Run as Administrator.

Disable the touchpad software in msconfig>Startup to lose the annoying features and get just the basic functions. Startup Programs - Change

You can also disable everything there except AV and gadgets to get better performance. The Acer connection manager adds unnecessary time to Startup and is inferior to Win7's built-in connection.

Other Win7 troubleshooting steps

Alrighty, I messed with it some more, and thanks for the help guys!!! It seems everything was under "Ease of Access" . . . It had a checkmark button to be able to do everything as an admin o.O (I thought that'd be default but yeah lol) and all the mouse and annoying click stuff. . .
But the browser I use is Kmeleon which has some mozilla firefox stuff in it. .
But I got it to do the downloads, and stop auto clicking. .
THanks so much! Y'alls info got me to search much more throughly and know where to look. . .
Thanks again!
Swyl!
