Need help!!! Battlefield 2 wont load!

I need help everyone. I just installed battlefield 2, ea downloader version, and when I go to start the game the screen goes black for about 2 seconds and ten right back to desk top. I have tried XP compatibility mode and have tried administrator privilages. Please healp.

Now it loads, but i keep getting kicked or OS privlages, i have ran it is Admin mode.

You won't be able to play BF2 on Windows 7 due to punkbuster.

i have been having PB issues, just installed and tweaked AMD Fusion and it stopped the API Function that was triggering the PB boots.. played for 15 minutes no problem

well i did not install pb, when i installed bf2 i chose custom and deselected pb not to instal. may i ask what else can be wrong

bf2 works fine for me... win 7 32bit.

I just installed bf2, let it install punkbuster, didnt install the arcade thing. then I rebooted, installed Patch 1.41, then patch 1.5. then ran pbsetup.exe from evenbalance.com. Updated my punkbuster for bf2 with it. then I checked my firewall (comodo) to make sure it wasnt blocking PnkbstrA.exe and PnkbstrB.exe and then tried bf2, it worked

I experienced the same problem as tipsyt explained in the original post. I am running BF2 with patch 1.41 and 1.50 installed. I also updated the BF2 shortcut to run in administrator mode. I am not running BF2 in compatibility mode, but only with run this program as administrator ticked.
The following actions resolved my issue:
1. Delete the folder "C:\Users\<login name>\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default\"
2. Delete the file "Video.con" in your BF2 profile folder, for me it is "C:\Users\<login name>\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0002\"

After you login to BattleField 2, update your display settings as required. I only changed my view distance to 100%.

got it to work

i got bf2 working with a lot of help from Cobra from Bomsf.
the problem was in my video.con and audio.con files and update my video drivers.
we changed a few things and it works great now.

do not use compat mode and admin let windows decide. also you have to have windows 7 pro.

(I HAVE WIN x64)if u have steam and if so run steam in administrator. Then check to see if your graphics card is up to date, because mine did not work until i updated my drivers.
Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers
then check to see if your sound card is up to date.
!And make sure if you screwed with the settings of the game, to reinstall! HOPE THIS HELPS AS IT DID FOR ME

I've tried everything you guys had suggested and have the same issue as presented. I installed BF2 clean from a BF2 Complete Edition disc (legal) and it has worked 100% wonderfully. Until today, I downloaded the 1.5 update and installed it and now it's doing exactly as described in the OP. HALPS?! P.S. I've tried everything, drivers are updated, Punk Buster is not on my pc and yeah... HALPS?!

If it has been working and now doesn't, it tends to help by clearing out the folder it creates for you in your Documents. This data is re-downloaded anyway after you log-in. It will also speed up the time you log in considerably as the server cache is in there.

Apart from that, just make sure of the following:

Your sound is not above 44100Hz CD quality (at least while playing)
You run as administrator. It can also help to disable UAC all together.
Attempt to run in Windows XP mode, though it works without it
Make sure you aren't running any kind of visual enhancing or in game chat things, such as 3D software, xfire or steam in-game.

if these don't help, redo patch 1.5 and if that doesn't do it, reinstall the game the way I explained earlier in this thread.

I have the same issue, I have checked everything is up to date, run in admin mode, tried running in xp sp3 compatibility mode. O/S is win 7 home premium 64 bit

original install ran fine, did the 1.5 update and now it wont load at all....

Try to install the 1.5 patch again and make sure you run it as admin when you install it. Also if you do not have Punk Buster on your system this could cause an issue go to Evenbalance.com and download it and update it. I hope this helps.

If your playing online? don't you need to have Pb installed? Pb runs nps on Win7 and if you do have problems you can update it from Evenbalance. You could also try the BF2 forums to see if there is a solution there. Bound to be someone who has posted there.

Way i got this to work was to go to C:\Users\Username\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default and open up Video.con using notepad, and change the Hz to 75 (will see it after the screen resolution on a line), Works fine online too

I am now able to run BF2 Complete Edition which I bought from GameFly yesterday because of the info. that Silcrows mentions which is editing the resolution and monitor settings. Once I changed it to what my monitor was set at the game ran fine. I am now running the game at 1600x1200 and 75 Hz as that is what this old CRT monitor supports.

If I can get a CRT for free that is acceptable I use it in certain situations. It definitely has to have a casing that is colored (black or dark blue) so it looks ok in the house. As for having a newer monitor I got my son a Samsung 21.5" monitor that supports 1080p but really I like the picture much better on the CRT. I also am not in the position to spend huge money on monitors at the drop of a hat so I went with what I got him on sale at the time. It has 2 ms response time too and has HDMI hookup (although it supports no audio but it hardly matters as I wouldn't use it). I really though prefer to play games on a 32" tv screen and hope to land a 32" 1080p tv in the near future as I saw some for sale new locally. They are hard to find but it is worth searching for as it is the perfect pc gaming size for me. I used to play WoW on a 32" 720p Toshiba tv and well I miss it but got rid of it as it didn't support 1080p. I also have used our 51" 3D Samsung tv 550D or whatever with a pc to web surf, watch video and game a little.
