Unfortunately there is no KB listed for this update as it is an optional intel system driver update.

Hi Q2,
That just leaves the long route. bummer

Go to device manager view >> show hidden devices
Work your way thru the list of all intel drivers
They will show an install date
when you find it/them, (could be more than one)
select the roll back option

OR
post a copy of the days CBS log when the driver was installed MIGHT give me pci/ven no

Hi Q2,
I dont know of any reader (notepad word etc) that can cope with that much data.

Not sure if a restore would be of any help, it does list programs affected not sure about drivers.

Best i can suggest was my comment re ACPI..

I dont know if you can download the drivers from the microsoft update catalog link above, but it includes a .INF file that says that it modifies the BIOS. Which would explain why i am no longer able to decrease my CPU multipliers.

Hi Q2,
PLEASE MAKE A SYSTEM IMAGE (COMPLETE)
using either macrium/Acronis
As making the change MIGHT corrupt your system further

in device manager, look for this

XtuAcpiDriver
IT will not have a roll back option, but you will be able to dissable it.
REBOOT

can you now decrease cpu multipliers??

if so
Now UNINSTALL that driver

REBOOT

What happened??

Roy

can you also look in system Config
Control panel >> administration tools >> system config
screen print both start up and services (tick hide MS items)

I dont think its flashed your BIOS,
I have no idea what settings you had in there (not my area)

Even with show hidden devices on, there is no "XtuAcpiDriver" in device manager :(

There is way too much to screenprint and i cannot maximize the msconfig window. What should i be looking for? There is a XTU service, but uninstalling XTU and reinstalling it doesnt help, nor can i reduce the CPU multipliers in the BIOS when i do this.

Revo Uninstaller Portable has done it for me in the past !

Hi to All & Q2,
Question2 , you can try Revo Uninstaller Portable from here. (it ,preferably, has to be installed on usb pen drive . Surely, it would not need to make any configuration changes to take on the task !) it also lists the system updates which are not listed in 'installed programs or updates' . Go, find it and uninstall that update/ utility.
Revo Uninstaller Portable | PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB, portable and cloud drives
(some other uninstallers also lists them but i think Revo is the best )

Thanks & Regards,
Vineet Garg.

My understanding is the Intel tuning program is just that a program.
A program that was downloaded and installed by the owner operator of the computer.
Because it's a program, Revo should be able to remove it, if normal ways of removing programs doesn't work.

I'm thinking once the Intel program is removed one should set the bios to default.

Roy

Im confused, what video do you want me to view? There is no link in your post.

According to Intel, XTU simply reads info from the BIOS, so if i cant decrease the CPU multipliers in the BIOS and XTU, that's the BIOS's limitation. This makes no sense as I had it running at 28x before.

XTU's entire UI also changed after I did the windows update and restarted, I used to have an "Advanced tuning" tab, but that had vanished afterwards.

I have tried uninstalling XTU and reinstalling XTU, including the old version of XTU that I had (still had the setup file saved on my HDD), but I was still not able to reduce the multipliers.

I tried flashing the BIOS, but i still could not reduce the multipliers in both the BIOS and XTU. I cannot find anyone with the same or similar model of laptop to confirm whether they can reduce their CPU multipliers.

This is really confusing...is it even possible for a software program to control whether i can change my BIOS settings? Flashing my BIOS should have reset the BIOS to default, overriding any changes to it.

At this point, my theory is that, for whatever reason, the version of XTU that I had allowed me to reduce the CPU multipliers when my BIOS did not allow me to do so. Whatever driver update that I downloaded "fixed" that, which would also explain why XTU's UI changed after I restarted.

Since reinstalling the program doesnt revert things back to normal, that means that some files from the driver update are still on my system and interfering with things. But how do i find out what files these are and where they are?

(Thats only my theory, i have no idea if thats what really happened or something else is going on, it would help if someone here had any knowledge of how the BIOS works...)

Im not trying to remove intel XTU, that can be easily done by uninstalling it normally. Im trying to remove whatever driver update it was that I downloaded through windows update. I posted the INF file earlier and linked the driver update on the microsoft update catalog if that helps.

sir,
1. It shows no drivers at all...
it doesn't show all the drivers but the most of them which you installed after installing windows 7 ! can u try with some changes in Revo and find what it shows as installed on the problem day, if any? i.e. "'Revo' (main window)>press 'Option' (menu item)>'Option' (Window)>'Uninstaller' (menu item)>check the box 'show system components'>ok"
2. people say IOBIT lists all windows updates as well !
