Need Help. No operating system found

Recently my computer crashed and I had to turned it off via power button after restarting BSOD came up saying unmountable boot volume.
So I used windows 7 recovery disk and then done the startup repair and restarted the laptop and removed disk.

This time it says no operating system found so I restarted and inserted win7 recovery disk and ran startup repair again it says startup repair cannot repair this automatically. The cause was disk partitioning was corrupt

Then I tried bootrec /fixmbr- successful
Bootrec /fixboot- the volume does not contain a recognised file system.
Also the F8 function doesn't work but the bios does.

Also my local disk is unknown.

I got no important data on laptop

Win7
Sony vaio

Is the hard drive showing up in the bios ?

It says hard disk drive :320gb but the name is not coming up, guessing its the hard drive the problem.

I ran the startup repair again this time it says cause is the boot volume

If you have another computer available, make a Partition Wizard bootable CD. Boot from it, see if any of the repair recovery options might work.

From recovery option I went to load drivers then computer local disk c: and local disk D: are there. So the hard disk is attached but something wrong with the files. I'll try that partition wizard.

So I downloaded the partition wizard is there a way I can format the disk as it was new. So if I insert windows 7 disk I can do a clean install.

Do you want to WIPE the drive completely & format it to start fresh ?

After you WIPE the HD, choose Format from one of the drop down menus in Partition Wizard.

I meant if I inserted a windows 7 disk will i be able to install without any problems. Also when press clean disk there are four options: fill sectors with 0 , fill sectors with 1, DoD 5220.22-m(3 passes) and DoD 5220.22-std (7 passes) which one do I choose.
