Solved Need help on fully formating hard drive ?!

Hello guys, my laptop (Lenovo) is runing slow, i dont know for what kind of reason, i had running windows 10 and reinstalled windows 7 but still its going slow , i have beeing installing windows by deleting all its partition and then install windows, but there should be another way to fully format my hard drive, like in first day ?

When you delete all partitions during installation, it cleans all the drive. There is no better way.
If your laptop is slower than it used to be, can be for many reasons. High CPU temperature or HDD failing are one of them.

CPU Temp is fine, HDD failing may be , you know any program that currectly it checks life of HDD ?!
What about opening cmd on setup and format fs=ntfs (without quick ) will that help ?

To find out if your disk is faulty, first make a check disk.
- If you running Windows, open explorer, right click on drive C:, Properties - Tools - Error check - Schedule disk check.
- If you use the installation disk, go to repair, command prompt and run chkdsk c: /f
A good program to see the disk info is CristalDisk /65980/CrystalDiskInfo7_0_3.zip??????? - CrystalDiskInfo - OSDN
A better command to clean and format disk is diskpart. Very powerful but not easy to use.

Select disk n (where n is the letter that was given for your HDD in List disk)
Clean
Create partition primary align=1024
Format fs=ntfs quick
Active (assuming you want to install an OS)
Exit

Well thank you , the disk check improved a bit performance,, the crystal disk shows health status good , i have used disk part and before, even with clean all method, idk if that made the disk worst, but may i know what this command : Create partition primary align=1024 (why 1024) ?

Click Start and type in the search box
resource monitor
Open the suggestion and it should open to the Overview section

See if svchost.exe is absorbing too many resources

If so see this,

The install should sort any alignment
You adding other partitions it's good to at least keep the partitions and C at even gb sizes.
1024mb = windows 1gb

Buy a solid state drive.

And all drives should be aligned, not just ssd`s

I agree with Addram personally and just transfer your data to it.

But if you want to check the drive again there is a surface test using Partition Wizard https://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html it actually tests the disk surfaces as just against the stuff on them.

that I installed SSD's on both my new laptops as they had 5400 spinners and dreadfully slow but now super fast. Just cannot see why the manufacturers apart from cost are still installing slow spinners in it does no good for people to buy their products eh?

Hi, thanks for your time, about svchost.exe nah its ok , thers nothing running on processes, the problem is hardware, or im doing in wrong way format !
So when i want to format should i use this : Create partition primary align=1024, even that im using HDD ?

ok thanks, will try that right now, could you tell me how you format your pc ? (just im thinking im doing it on wrong way )

As I said on my first post, there is no better way.
I just bought a PNY on Best Buy (USA). They cost around US$ 70 for a 250G SSD - PNY CS1311 240GB Internal SATA III Solid State Drive Black SSD7CS1311-240-RB - Best Buy

You have no idea what a SSD can do for you.

Use SSD for the OS system, while HDD for data.
Meaning getting a low 120Gb to 250GB which is more than enough and able to suit to your budget.

This way you can see the performance.

No matter how you do partitions, the way the HDD arm running in and out on 2 or more discs in HDD, speed will be an issue.
If you ever remove the HDD totally out with 2 -3 discs, the arm and magnets driven operation, then you may understand a bit.

Now the SSD pricing is almost coming to be cheaper to flash drive.

Since you are re-installing, do consider or you would not know what you are missing.

Smaller storage enough for system will do.
Even 120 GB is acceptable, as system files upon re-install is less than 30 GB.
Take into consideration on pagefile which is equal to the RAM size, and system restore storage depend as 5 GB will do.
Do not have hibernate file as this is useless if you are using SSD, and hibernate slow system down.
In total, the first size for system is 50 GB.
With plenty storage space for expansion on addition on programs and applications.

I totally agree, my 1st SSD was a OCZ Vertex 4 128 GB and I had my system on that for well over a year before I went with an Intel 180 GB, then a Samsung 850 Evo 250 GB and finally a Samsung 850 Pro 256 GB

Start small, a 120 to 128 GB ssd for the OS is more then enough, save your money, find more work, whatever it takes, don`t waste your time with a hard drive.
