Need help removing icon from taskbar

I've recently had an icon of the recycle bin appear on my task bar. It's not in the quick launch or the notification area and it is not pinned there.
I can find all kinds of instructions on how to put it there but nothing on how to remove it.

You might see if the Recycle Bin may be an added toolbar instead. If so, you can just remove it using step 4 below.

The recycle bin icon is not in the notification area, just next to it and it is not pinned. Nor is it listed as a toolbar.
It's just there and it irritates me since I can't remove it

Try unlocking the taskbar then dragging and dropping it into the recycling bin.

If that doesn't help, then please post a screenshot showing this to see if it may reveal anything.

What do you have listed for toolbars?

Did you install any program that may have added it?

Double check in Programs and Features to see if anything may stand out.

If all else fails you could try a system restore to a date before you saw that appear on your taskbar.
