I read the other threads on the subject but cant find an answer.

I'm running W7 Home on a desktop

I downloaded and installed Winzip7z then discovered Power Achiever was better so I uninstalled Winzip 7z. But it hasnt gone from the Context Menu.

Tried downloading and installing ShellExView but I cant find anything relating to Winzip 7z in it for it to disable ie there are no entries for 'Win' 'Winzip' or '7z'.

Then I tried disabling a Context menu entry for an application that I could identify in ShellExView and that didnt disappear from the Context menu either.

Also tried following the instructions given by the Online Geek to edit the registry but although there was an entry with 'Win' in it (the only one) the Geeks instructions didnt work and I tried rebooting after the edit although the Geek said that wasnt necessary.

What am I doing wrong?

I'm at the end of what I know can anyone help. Thanks

My suggestion is to reinstall Winzip7z (is it winzip or 7zip?) Then uninstall using Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features.
Then reinstall Power Achiever.

Power Achiever has some issues.
Homegrown problems: PowerArchiver has been through a few versions already and is known to have versions released with known faults. Frequent updates are frustrating if you don't want to mess with updating or consulting the forum for work-arounds.

I would stay with 7 zip http://www.7-zip.org/

Thanks. Problem is I download the free OS maps for my GPS and they are in PA as I discovered.

Actually I thought Winzip7z and 7zip were the same. Either I'll try your suggestion. Cheers.

If you're interested, Ccleaner has a facility to disable or delete context menu items.

Open Ccleaner and click on tools > Startup > Context Menu.

Works for me. It might work for you.
