Need Help with System Interrupts - GTX580

I'm getting System Interrupts consistently when my GTX580 has to render 3d video while gaming. I traced the offending drivers with Latency Monitor and they are: nvlddmkm.sys, dxgkrnl.sys, usbport.sys, ataport.sys, hal.dll. There may be one or two others but those are the main culprits.

This occurs on a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I've updated all drivers for every hardware component and peripheral. Updated the Bios/chipsets. I've also tried every supposed "fix" I could find online. Nothing works.

I can get through 1 or 2 matches in Battlefield 3 with no hiccups, then at the start of the next match, system interrupts maxes one of my cores and I get severe framerate drops and audio stuttering. I can also play through one level of Crysis 2 on maxed settings, however, when the next level loads, system interrupts make the game unplayable. The GTX580 I have works GREAT, when it's working, but the fact that it works fine until a new map is loaded has me stumped.

The ONLY ways to fix the issue is to reboot or go into Device Manager and Disable the Gtx 580. This is NOT a solution. It only confirms that the card is the issue. I tried moving the card to another slot, thinking that it was a possible IRQ conflict, this did not solve the problem. I have the latest Nvidia drivers. Reverting to older drivers does not rectify the issue either.

I'm at my wits end here, somebody help! Do I need to RMA the card or is this a software/driver issue?

The card passes a stress test with OC Scanner with no artifacts and works great when there's no system interrupts so I'm leaning torwards it being a software issue.

System Specs:

I have attached my DxDiag. Please look through it and help me fix this issue.

You'll probably notice that I'm running low on HD space. This has nothing to do with the issue, I'll be buying a new HD soon for more space. I've been having the system interrupts problem for about 6 months now and have since filled up my HDs.

THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO HELP ME FIGURE THIS OUT!

GET BACK TO ME ASAP AND I CAN PROVIDE ALL OF THE INFO MIGHT NEED TO HELP ME FIX THIS PROBLEM!

Every thread I've seen online regarding System Interrupts just fizzles out with no REAL fix. It's frustrating, to say the least.

I see that you have Bitdefender installed. This is a known cause of lag for some games and general BSODs. Also, there are A LOT of references to the trufos.dll failing to load. I would recommend uninstalling Bitdefender How to uninstall BitDefender

Then install Microsoft Security Essentials to see if the problem persists.

Also, a disc that you are using in your Optical drive is bad. If it's a burned disc, reburn it at a slower speed. If it's an original disc, get a replacement.

Actually, looking at this log, it looks like you may be in need of doing a clean install, it appears as though you have a lot of failing programs. Do you download a lot of torrents? Programs that are modified and uploaded online are notorious for causing system errors. Try uninstalling Bitdefender first to see if your problem persists.

Okay, so I bought a new 1tb drive. Did a clean install of Windows 7 x64. Updated all drivers. Installed Crysis 2, just to see if I'd get interrupts. Nothing has changed, I still get the system interrupts. I'm stumped. It has to be a hardware issue right? Either faulty graphics card or power supply? Mobo?

This sucks. Any ideas?
I'm going to bed, I'll be back tomorrow and post a new dxdiag/event logs.

Are you running ANY of the Gigabyte utilities that came with your mobo?

Do you have onboard video to test without your gpu installed?

Ya I have on-board video. When the interrupts start, the only thing I've found that stops them dead in their tracks is disabling my GTX580 in device manager or restarting the computer.

In a bit I'll post a new dxdiag.

Okay, uninstall the drivers using driver sweeper, then shut down and physically remove the gpu. Run stress tests and see if the problem still persists. If does not, both, test your gpu in another pc amd test another gpu in your pc.

K, here's a new DxDiag.

I made sure every driver has been updated. I also uninstalled the nvidia driver, ran driver sweeper in safe mode, and then installed the new beta drivers that just came out.

I STILL get system interrupts, but only when a new level loads in a game. They remain until I restart the PC or disable the graphics card.

I find it strange that a game will work flawlessly without any hiccups, but when a new level loads, I get system interrupts. Anybody know what might be causing this?

I have an identical GTX 580 that I'm going to try in my rig tomorrow, as well as try the current trouble card in a near identical system. We'll see what happens, but I'd like to get this sorted out so that THIS card works. Honestly, I can't see anything wrong with the card because like I said before, it works great until the interrupts show up and bog down one of my CPU cores.

Anyway, here's the diag.

Btw, I reinstalled Windows 7 x64 and this 1tb hard drive is brand new. This PC is literally bare bones right now except for Crysis 2 - so I could verify whether or not the problem had been resolved.

My Computer

OS
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Is there anyone around that can take a look at the diagnostic and let me know if they have any ideas as to what's causing this?

Also, I just ran latencymon again while the interrupts were present.

Highest ISR counts:

ataport.sys - ATAPI Driver Extension
usbport.sys - USB 1.1 & 2.0 Port Driver
xeno7x64.sys - Killer Xeno PCIE Gaming Adapter
dxgkrnl.sys - DirectX Graphics Kernel
hal.dll - Hardware Abstraction Layer DLL

Highest DPC counts:

nvlddmkm.sys - NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 301.24
ntoskrnl.exe - NT Kernel & System
ataport.sys
usbport.sys
xeno7x64.sys

I've updated all drivers, tried rolling back drivers, went back to the newest version. No fix. Please help!

You need to run some stress tests on all of your components.

Memory; Prime95 and memtest
CPU; Prime95 and Intel Burn in test
GPU; FurMark

Run Hardware monitor to watch your temps while stress testing.

Run memtest first, overnight. If you get any errors, run one stick at a time in each slot to find the offender.

After you do all of this let us know the results. We will be able to give you better advice.

Ok, will do. I'll report back tomorrow or the next day with my findings. Anyone else with helpful advice, don't hesitate to chime in. Thanks.

Okay, I tested the GPU first with FurMark.

Ran a burn in at 1600x1200, 8x MSAA for 30 minutes.

The temp hit 72C and remained there. No stutters or anything, the GTX580 held up.

So, at least I know the GPU works. I'm leaning more towards a software conflict at this point. But who knows, maybe my processor is going to shit (which would suck, because this is a new build with all new components and it's a $600 processor).

I'm going to run Prime95 and then memtest.

My Computer

I'm an hour into a blend Prime95 test. No errors at all yet. Task manager shows all cores at 100%. I've been browsing the web with zero lag during the test.

It's interesting that Prime95 maxing out all of the cpu cores as well as FurMark taxing the hell out of the GPU has not triggered the system interrupts.

What is it in a game that could cause the interrupts by just loading a level? Strange.

What the hell do I do if all of my hardware passes these stress tests? Has to be a driver/windows/software issue right?

Prime95 Blend ran for 9.5 hrs with zero errors on all 12 cores. Got about 218 tests on each one. The max temps on each core ranged from 49C to 57C. Now for memtest. I'll be back...

You need to run memtest for about 7-8 hours.

Also, if you have ANY items plugged in to your PC, beyond Mouse and Keyboard, unplug them.
