I looked at the Mede8er it looks like it is only sold in Europe do they have it in the US and how does it work can you explain a little bit please?
Like most harddisk media players, you connect them to your computer via USB so that it functions like an external hard disk, at which time you copy your media over. When done loading media, disconnect it from your PC, connect it to the AV of your TV, and then use the remove control to select the media is on the hard disk that you want to watch or listen.
The mede8er goes one step further, and has the ability to connect to your local network, which gives you two options:
- You can use it without a hard disk (like I'm doing), and then stream media from a network share on your PC to the mede8er
- If you have a hard disk installed, you can have the mede8er function as a NAS (Network Attached Storage), so that you can copy media directly to the device without having to connect using USB.
There are a great many more options available, including the ability to use USB Flash and SD Cards. The manufacturers also update the firmware fairly regularly, adding more features and compatbility options.
As for only being available in Europe and South Africa, you might want contact them to mind out if the can ship to U.S. addresses. You might want to visit your local retailer to find an alternate solution if they don't.
If I remember correctly, ASUS and MSI both also make hard disk media players.
I had problems with handbrake but ill try it again see how it goes.
Handbrake can be a little daunting at first, but with a little practice, it's the absolute best encoder out there.
