Hello.. i am trying reinstall skype.. I know almost everything about how to use computers so im not a noob or something.. i used all that i could but still nothing.. So here is the deal..

I uninstalled skype because it had some problems. after that tried to reinstall skype from the official site but said that i have another version and this version cant be installed. i then used vevo uninstaller to uninstall it completely, found some files and i pressed to uninstall it.

After that i tried install but still same message.. Then i went to windows search, did a skype word search found other folders, used vevo hunter on them and deleted them, i also deleted the folders with permanent delete.

And tryied to install again but still the same message. Its driving me crazy!!!

any ideas? any tips i must have forgotten? :/

Hello zonique and welcome to Seven Forums.

If you're comfortable editing the registry, search for skype and delete all references. (Sometimes there are left over registry remnants that even Revo Uninstaller misses.) Then try to reinstall again.

Why not just run the reg cleaner in CCleaner. I know a lot of people talk bad about it, like it's dangerous, but it's never failed me or anyone I know.

Maybe he is using a stranded user account, not having the admin rights ?

I think sometimes modifying the registry options require change in permissions in the registry itself.
Lets wait for a response from the OP :)

Revo isn't going to work. The program is already uninstalled. It's the traces that are left that are the problem. But, that is why we use Revo to uninstall :)

hi sorry i was so late i was waiting a lot so i thought you left my post behind..

There are no files to uninstall only 2-3 registry items that are somehow locked and cant even unlock as admin, unreachable. Used all programs, ccleaner, revo, speedypc pro, and others but no program can delete the files. I try to install and says that i cant cause there is already a version in the computer. Tried older, same, newest version of skype but still the same.. any ideas? :(

This is weak, but why not contact skype or go to their forum and look it up. I've had that issue, but just did a simple reg scan and got rid of the entries and it worked.
