need permission from system

I just upgraded to home premum. I am trying to delete the cisci VPN languages files. I have tried to give myself all the permissions, including using the "take control short cut. Each time I do I get the "you need permission from system" error.

Any ideas on how to delete these files? The vpn is not working under windows seven and I want to remove all of the program.

Several things to try

Boot into safe mode and try then

Find out what servies it runs and kill them in services.msc

Get a third party app to nuke them. boot into a linux environment like ubuntu, bart pe, et.

See what users are listed on the folder. give them guest permissions

Try those and let us know if you need the help

I found the third party Tweak on this forum. After about the fifth tried, it finally gave me control and I was able to delete them.

Now the problem is the vendor has had me remove the software and try to reinstall it.
It goes great until it gets to the CISCO VPN and then it fails. The vendor has no clue as to what to do and has suggested I get a copy of XP and install it. At this point I am getting tempted. Any suggestions on the install would be apprecited.

Had the same trouble, found an fairly simple way to fix, without installing any extra software.

It uses the right-click method.
When you have the properties, click on the "Security" tab, then at the bottom, click on "Advanced" at the bottom, from there, click at the top of on the "Owner" tab, and if it says SYSTEM, click the "Edit" button, this will open a new tab, and you should see a screen giving maybe one or two names under "Change owner to:", click on the one with Administrators in the name, and it will change the owner, from there, click apply, and okay. from there, give that owner full control of permissions.
From there, if it says you need Administrators privileges, that's an easy fix.
Open command prompt with admin properties, if you are the admin, or only user on the computer, just open it with the windows key + r, and type cmd.
from there, type
net user administrator /active:yes

and you should be good.

when you're done, type
net user administrator /active:no


This worked for me, hope it works.

Hey so I tried the right click method but when I type (net user administrator /active:yes) it says
System error 5 has occurred.

Access is denied
please help this has been bugging me for a while
