Solved need suggestions on new hardisk

i have one question here... my new HDD is for media only and no software installed on it... is it quite normal that sometimes it takes few seconds to load... ? but not all the time...

its like after 5-6 secs or so then it shows the content (its blank for a while then the green bar progress then it shows)... or is there something wrong? cause my other hardisk never encounter as such.. i hope i make the sense in explaining the situation here..

You may not have the security permissions set up right. That is usually what results in the behavior your are experiencing.

Start Menu -> Computer -> Right Click the Drive -> Properties -> Security tab -> Post a screen shot (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/9733-screenshots-files-upload-post-seven-forums.html)

Which ever way you go brand wise you need to back up the critical data, photo's, financials, etc. But unless you have some redundancy you really have no absolute surety. I have dual back up redundancies in place and I feel fairly safe with my data but with the high cost and low warranty available to you, have you considered cloud back up like Carbonite?

i never try carbonite... is it free? and btw... the internet here is quite sucky so im sure it will take forever to load it all up...

Security setup looks good. No idea what may be causing your problem... I'll give it some thought and try to get back to you later.

You could try to Diagnose and repair Windows File and Folder Problems automatically.

this is not related with the sata cable or etc ryte? it runs fine but is kinda lagg sometimes in reading.. just that.. will give a try on what u suggested.. its not gonna delete anythng ryte?

Nope, that Fix It just repairs Windows explorer, so it may increase the speed for explorer to read the drive.

Can't think of any software at the moment beyond that. Best wishes that resolves the slow loading.

Check the power settings on the hard drive. I've had some that take a few seconds to spring back to life after they've spun down to idle.

No the Carbonite is a annual fee based cloud service, but it's not expensive for the ultimate piece of mind. But the first download will take a long time but after that it only looks for incremental additions.

how do i check that? but at the moment its working well tho after following what writhziden has suggested

If you want to check it, go to Control Panel>>Power Options>>Advanced.
