Have you set the BIOS to advance mode ?
Have you looked in cd/dvd ROM drive BBS priorities ?
Is Secure boot set to "Other OS"
Why do you want to change the boot order, what are you trying to achieve. (sorry if I missed it in previouse posts)
Sorry to ask this but do you use F10, Save changes and exit.

Hiyya Wayne well I am trying to set the first boot to the SSD as it takes a fair time to go to the optical drive and then go looking for another boot source am just after a bit quicker boot which is around 45 seconds to a minute and although it doesn't sound a lot feels like ages when waiting.

No mate I have just got it set to EUFI/Legacy BIOS as you will know there are three options which I am just guessing here is either or.

I will have to look to see about advanced mode as I am not quite sure what it is in I think EZ mode but again I will have to check.

Secure boot is set to Windows EUFI and I have tried other OS as I do have a dual boot running right now but it made no difference

The F10 no mate I just go to Exit and shut down and restart saving changes would the F10 option be better??

The machine seems to running a little faster once powered up it is just that I cannot work out why the boot order changes after I have set it to what I want it to boot from.

It wont save changes if you don't use the "F 10, Save Changes & Exit". So try that & any changes you make should be saved.

Ok Craig I have just been using the BIOS option Save changes and reset.

Ok soem pics to show you what I am getting - they are what I get when I use the BIOS Save and Reset and also the F10 option neither saves the first boot option when I set the SSD as first boot.

Hi John, I see some problems, please show me Computer/Manage/Disk Management.
I need to see what method you have loaded windows.
Just to short cut if you understand, If you installed Win 7 in Legacy or BIOS or with MBR what ever the confusion you understand. (Legacy which win 7 should be installed in as it was never designed to understand UEFI)
Then in BIOS your CSM should be set to "disable" then install windows 7.
This should automatically change all things to "Legacy"
Not all BIOS works the same so look and correct, CSM to Legacy(or disable), Secure Boot to Other OS.
Press F10, save and exit.
Load Windows and then if you need too you can change your boot order.
Please understand that if my sugestions in BIOS are different to what you have then you should re-load Windows after the change.
Take an Image and then you can revert the BIOS if I am wrong after my ideas/second to this you have mentioned a secondary OS on the same drive are they both loaded in the same format ie is one in legacy and the other in UEFI ?
I am very confident that your situation has an answer.
I am sure you will pop me one when I say if you want a faster boot then go Win 10

When we get it sorted there is a bunch of things you can turn off in BIOS that will help speed up boot times (but thats later).

Ok Wayne the CSM I only changed after the Windows was installed as I read it somewhere that is what to do if loading a dual boot.

No mate I ma not the sort who would pop anyone and the reason I had the dual boot is because I wanted to ditch Windows 10 as it was just too intrusive for me. For an example I was typing an meial one evening when all of a suddent a message popped up to say that "they" were going to shut my machine down and load some updates that were urgently needed.
Now I saw red because that is exactly what M$ did and I thought to myself if they can remotely operate my computers like that what else were they doing on my machines I have five - so I invested in trying out Linux Mint Cinnamon which frankly I do like as the alternative - have tried other distros but LMC is my cup of tea and with the dual boots on each machine now I don't have to worry too much about when 7 goes belly up which is the only reason I am using Windows when 7 goes then probably so will I.

I have attached shots of the disk management in both the Computer and Partition Wizard which I think is a little clearer what is on the drive.

Hey John, so why would CSM be involved with dual boot i.e. how did they dual boot before UEFI.
Set Launch CSM to Disable and check that Secure Boot is set to Other OS and see if you can do all thigs you do before you changed it.
Check if the boot order changes.
If it don't work put it back.

I don't know Wayne I saw an instruction to set it that way and just did it I was just under the impression that Linux would only run on a Legacy BIOS.

Now to best of my recollection the YouTube ttorial recommended that so do you think I should not use the CSM??

I had an instance today too where I got a non genuine copy message was popped up but I have fixed it with Microsoft I am thinking because the new BIOS chip is now in use.

Anyway I shall reset it now to see what happens with the boot order though I have an idea somewhere among the many changes I have made it hasn't made any change.

I'll let ypu know what happens.

Well Wayne the machine will not boot without CSM being enabled and I have tried disabled and Auto but this is the message I get sorry about the quality of the epic but it is in essence saying I have to have CSM enabled. Secure boot is set at Windows EUFI.

Yep never mind Wayne I suppose as long as the darn thing works and I was lucky enough to get some sense out of a M$ tech for change or I would have ended up having to use my last copy of 7 which I want it kep as an absolute emergency measure eh??

Got the other chip today but won't be using it though after yesterday LOL!!
