I have run into a strange problem a couple of times. It is hard to describe but I will try.

I create a new folder and it instantly gets the "New Folder" name and acts like I pressed enter before I can even name it. It just makes the folder with no option to name. Then if I right click or try to rename it it acts like the function doesn't exist. Nothing happens. No way to edit it.

I can sometimes rename it through a program. For instance I renamed one recently through a 3d applications save dialog. But I can't through windows or Photoshop.

Rebooting the machine fixes it.

Thanks

Hiyya Revel now a couple of things you can try mate are running these in safe mode for starters

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html< if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2
Leave the /r switch until you have already done the chkdsk /f though.

If you have not done any scans for malware recently then try these

http://www.superantispyware.com/

http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

ADW download from bleeping computerdelete any rubbish found with the malware scans

(Anyone running Kasperskyinternet security will find it rants about ADW - ignore it or disable Kasperskywhile running ADW)

Until you fix the issue, you might be able to highlight the folder and press F2 to rename.
Could be an issue with the context menu rather than anything else.
