honest opinion? It doesnt need overclocking...

but if your interested in first time overclocking your best off watching videos on youtube.

basically you start off by increasing the cpu multiplier in small incriments, then boot, run prime 95 for a while and then up it some more, once you get to the point its no longer stable you can then up the cpu voltage a small amount and try again. youc an also adjust the front side bus a small amount to get even smaller amounts of mhz out of the system.

thats a very simplified version of what to do. check out "linus tech tips" or "NCIX tech tips" on youtube. Linus is a legend lol

i decided not to be so lazy..

there you go

and..

the second video is for LGA1055 models, as im unsure if the lga1366 i7 (first video) is different in terms of multiple multipliers or not.

I have readed on forums that i7 2600k is oc'd up to 5GHz with DH-N14 and it have excellent temps.

Anyway I think that you won't need oc on that pc. ;)

If you are going to overclock, make sure you download 2 programs called 'coretemp' and 'cpu-z' these are good programs for safely monitoring your overclock.

Go for it. It's so damn easy OCing these 2nd gen chips it's not funny. Hell, it's hardly even fun any more.

But watch the voltage on the Asus boards - they like to overvolt if left on auto.

I've got the Z68 version of that board, and all I did iirc:

Set the Ram to use the X.MP profile if not done so already.
Disable Turbo Boost
Disable CPU PLL overvoltage
Voltage +offset (vcore setting is an 'individual' thing. I'm using the offset because I've left Speedstep etc enabled) )
Multiplier to 45

4.5ghz stress test stable off the bat. Volts/temps good. Not even a single blue screen during testing. Didn't feel like overclocking at all...
