New hard drive wont boot

Hi Guys, my old hard drive committed suicide on my desktop, so I bought a new one and installed it, I was trying for days to install windows 7 from a copy disc, the computer would not boot at all, either from the dvd drive or from an external usb drive which I made, anyway I have another desktop running win 8.1 pro, so I disconnected the hard drive from that and attached the new hard drive, I the installed Windows 7 home premium onto that drive, and it worked fine, I then took the new HD and installed it into the original desktop that would not boot, I booted it up and it seamed to work fine, until it came to the windows is starting screen, then it stops and reboots itself, when it boots it opens up an option screen saying, windows failed to boot run repair, or start as normal, obviously I ran repair, but I keep getting, cannot repair this do you wish to send a report, so guys I am presuming the drivers from the win 8 desktop were different to the win 7, any help on fixing this please, thanks in advance

You can not install it on another system then bring it to a new one like that, the drivers and hardware are not the same. You need to reinstall it on the pc you want to fix, when in the installer tell it to delete the partitions and make a new one so it will install fresh. what is the specs of the computer that will not boot, i'm betting now that it starts with that drive period you can install windows on it like you were trying in the beginning.

Yes mate as RVC says and another thing is if that activation code is not a retail one (an OEM one for example) is tied to the board forever - unless you ask Microsoft to let you put it on another board if the board goes south.
That are quite obliging when it comes to that as they did with my brothers machine in the UK.

You could try running sysprep What is Sysprep? on it just before you move it to the other PC.
