Hello

I just installed new 16 GB memory kit in my PC. I wanted to add it to my actual 8 GB, but for whatever reason, my PC was running slower

So now, I got only the 16 GB kit installed. I'm looking at CPU-Z and it show

Speed 995.2 While my kit was advertise at 1600
Case latensy 9.0 clock while advertise at 10 clock

The kit is a Kingston KHX1600C10D3B1K2/16G

Do I need to modify my bios?
Is it possible to match different memory module by setting their characteristics in the bios?

Any info appreciated

Martin

I may be mistaken here, but isn't memory speed tied to your cpu capabilities also? (chipset?) I wouldn't recommend mucking around with your bio's, but you could look for any updates that may be relevant to you and your situation.

Hello Indianacarnie

My board is not to old with Intel Yvy Bridge rev 09. My interrogation is more about why did CPU-Z show that my memory is a 9.0 CL of latency while my memory stick is supposed to be 10.0 cl. My previous and original memory stick was 9.0

The bios is in auto detection for the memory characteristics. Is it the optimal one? When installing new memory, is the bios reset is value for the new one or do I need to reset the bios to force it to read the newer installed memory parts?

Hope I'm clear because I'm lost in this field :)

I'm not familiar with your board or chipset. But, on most P67, Z68, and Z77 boards, you set your frequency, timings and voltage in bios. Set them to the manufacturer's specs which are on the package or on a sticker on the side of the ram. Also remember that your ram is DDR3 (double data rate) so CPUz will read that as half the frequency. In other words ram running at 1600MHz would show on the memory tab as 800.
