I wonder if the police version of the Taurus is rear wheel driven?

About ten or twelve years ago, the Mustang was a favorite with the Florida Highway Patrol. Then Ford redesigned the Mustang interior and the new design would not accommodate the radios, computers, etc that LEO's use.

The new Taurus Interceptor will be AWD with EcoBoost V6 engines and a somewhat "redesigned" interior with "police specific" cloth seats to accomodate the gear police wear all day.

On the other hand, GM will be importing the Holden Caprice from Australia for Police Duty ONLY in America, which means the new 2011 Chevrolet Caprice will NOT be available for public use EVER.

As I understand it, the AWD is an option. Front wheel drive may be OK in urban areas; but for highway performance driving, I would much prefer rear wheel drive. Obviously AWD is fine for preformance driving.

LOL! The Taurus is a much bigger car than the Charger, the Ford Five Hundred WAS the Taurus "renaming" refresh but Ford dropped it because sales declined (since uneducated autobuyers didn't see the Taurus nameplate), Ford revived the Taurus name on a facelifted Five Hundred and the all-new 2010 Taurus is MUCH bigger than the Five Hundred/Taurus bodystyle and maybe 5x bigger than the Charger, GM is bringing over the Holden Caprice from Australia and rebranding it as the Chevrolet Caprice and it is a much bigger car than the Chevy Impala which is the current biggest Chevy on the American market, though GM has said that the Caprice will be POLICE DUTY ONLY, which means it will NOT be sold on public auctions some years later when police retire certain police vehicles.
