New to Media Center...Need Help

Hello everyone,
I am new to using media center. When I tried to start it, the WMC icon showed in the tray, but no display on the screen and my cursor disappeared. I had to use Task Manager to close WMC.

Any ideas what is happening and how to fix it?

I have tried the turn off/turn on procedure but nothing happened.

Hello and welcome termite mate just what do you want to do with that program? If you are just needing it pinned to the taskbar to turn on then go to Start > Windows Media Centre > right click > Pin to taskbar.

Hello ICIT2LOL and thanks for the response.

I haven't ordered a tv tuner card yet, but am looking at recording some movies and programs through the WMC.

I'll check out the sites you posted and let you know how things went.

Ok mate I see now the first two links (tutorials) are just for checking the OS filing system (sfc) for corruption or faults and putting them back in order - the second (chkdsk) has the ability to fix (/f) and repair if possible (/r) on the drive itself.

The others are for malware and are very commonly used and I always link them to those I feel need something done in that area.
