I have a Dell 8100, GTS 240 video card that has sound through DVI (2 DVI connections). One DVI to Dell 23" monitor, other DVI/HDMI to Panasonic TV. When playing a DVD with "PowerDVD", the video and sound are great on both my computer screen and my TV. Realtek audio.

When I stream something (Netflix movie), the picture is great on the TV, but no sound. There is sound at my computer. Any clue what to start playing with to get sound to the TV?

edit: I found "solution" in Realtek Audio Manager. Set HDMI out to default turns on TV sound. I can't figure out a way to have PC and TV audio at same time (so I don't have to remember to switch default back to "Speakers". Can this be done? What does "Default communications Device" do? (it doesn't turn on sound)

Since you must select your "default playback device" I don't know of any way to have both active at the same time. I do a lot of support on the Dell users forum and no one, that I know of, has ever got both working at the same time.

If you have a sound card with an HDMI connector or Toslinq fiberoptic connector, I'd use the Toslinq to manage TV audio and the HDMI for your monitor, it will work flawlessly that way.

Good thought, but no Toslinq. Video card has 2 DVI-D connectors (with spdiF sound), so I have one to the monitor and one to the TV. I can switch audio default to either one, but not both. When to the PC monitor, audio is through the on-board speaker jack. When to the TV sound is through the DVI to HDMI cable connection. It's not a big deal switch it, just 2 clicks.... the easy part of getting a movie streaming.

The Panasonic TV doesn't have a Toslinq connection? I know the X-Fi Fatality does.

This is what the back of your X-Fi Fatality looks like

The bottom most squares (one grey, one black) are the Toslinq in and out ports.

I don't have that card. Only built in small color coded jacks on back of box below USB ports.

Your specs you gave said that you have this card, I would not have answered your query with the logic I did if it were a different card.
