No Audio Ouput device Installed

ok have read over 20 different forums about people with the same problem.
but nothing worked. i had this problem before, when i had vista. I upgraded to windows 7 x64 ultimate and i had sound. but after a few days i got the red circle with the white x. and it says no audio output device is installed. but the confusing part is. under device management. i dont see a sound, video, and game controller drop down. i really confused. please help me.
btw i have a hp pavillion dv6000

Hi!

I've the same issue(s) as Fozzy1990 (I saw his other thread on the DV6000 help). My laptop is a Pavilion DV6525en, originally running Vista, but now running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. Although I'm getting a new laptop in one month or so, this issue with the sound card is really annoying me, because I need to use programmes (e.g. Skype) that require a sound device.

Unfortunately, pebbly fix did not work, because after running the driver (I downloaded the one for my Pavilion model) in compatibility note, I get the message: 'device not located' or something like this.

What I find interesting is that one by one the hardwares installed in this laptop stop working. More than one year ago it was the integrated webcam. Then it stopped recognizing many bus controllers. Now I have the same array of device issues as Fozzy1990 (check http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/153599-dv-6000-help.html). Plus there's an issue with the WAN port: the computer cannot connect the internet with the cable, just wifi.

I'm starting to think this is part of the planned obsolescence, to force me buying a new computer every x years. This of course is what I'm doing, but, still, I'd like to fix the sound issue meanwhile. What is amazing is that two weeks ago both the WAN port and the sound card were working pretty well. And suddenly they stopped working. I've done all solutions I've found on web forums: nothing works. I even made a fresh installation of Windows 7 and nothing.

So, please, if anyone has any idea of how to solve the audio output issue, please let me know. Have you corrected it, Fozzy1990?

N.B.: No sound device appears in the device manage list, and this is what makes most of the solutions proposed useless.

From the "sound" of it, it would seem that you have a more basic issue than a driver installation involved. Have you tried running chkdsk /r, or sfc /scannow?

Thanks for your reply, seekermeister. Yes, I agree it doesn't look like it's a driver issue. Rather, from the beginning I believed it was hardware, while my housemate - an Apple affectionate - claimed it was Windows 7 issue.

Well, as I said, I made a custom (fresh from zero) installation of Windows 7, and still it did not recognize there was a soundboard. Then I followed your suggestion anyway and ran the commands, but no error was found.

Third and final solution (I'm about to give up on this laptop) was to install latest Ubuntu and see whether it recognized the soundboard. Answer: no, it didn't.

So, very likely that I was right and it is a hardware issue, maybe malfunctioning HD or motherboard.

Although I'm giving up, if someone has a solution for the mysterious disappearance of audio output device, please post it here!
