Solved No Audio Output Device Installed/No sound card found

Hello all,

I hope you could help me with my problem.

Recently, I got problem with my PC, just all of a sudden, it stopped booting and later on the HDD got wiped and I have no saved data. So I reinstalled using USB, before I was running Windows XP, but I prefer to install Windows 7. The thing is, I don't have sound anymore.

The first thing you need to know is that this motherboard is phased out by Foxconn... Its last BIOS/Driver updates where in 2007 !!

Having said that... i can see that the hardware for the sound is either not enabled... If it was it would show up in your Device manager with a yellow exclamation mark....

So first thing to do is the reset your BIOS to defaults... So once you boot back to Windows check to see if you can see any devices having exclamation marks under device manager.

Let me know then we can go to the next step..

Well like i said.. the system is pretty old ... and i have a feeling the CMOS battery is almost dead.

what you could do it look at he motherboard layout taken from you Manufacturer site

and look at the location of the CMOS reset jumper.. the follow the image below to see how to reset it .

Once this is done.. restart you system and check your device manager to see if you find anything under "Sound, video and Game Controllers"

well thats what i wanted to see !!

Now here is the problem.... Go to the manufacturer site under Tech Support.. you will see 2 audio drivers ... Now.. i am not sure if it has a Win 7 version as the motherboard is only supported till Win XP.... But you can give it a shot and download the audio driver that dated to 2007.

Install it and check and see if you see the sound driver under Device manager.

Also to note ... you need to buy a new CMOS battery and replace the old one on the motherboard.

Hello, about the CMOS battery, I don't know where I can buy and I don't know how to replace as well. But if I got time and money I will try to research on how to replace it.

I followed what you said and I downloaded the 2007 audio driver in the manufacturer site. And I run in on compatibility. Then it successfully installed, however, after restart, it told me "No ADI Codec installed" and still got red x mark in task bar tray. So I searched for google till I found this blog that the solution really worked for me:

So to other people that got same problems after installing SoundMax driver, they just have to follow your instructions then later on the instructions on the upper link.

the CMOS battery you could get them Watch shops ... these are round and flat... thats the only battery in motherboard...

Well good to hear it worked... The reason i was asking you to change the battery is that...if the CMOS battery is weak .. the setting in BIOS will not stay ...and you will have the same problem of no audio... So keep that in mind and get it changed asap.
